and then popped his clogs, we would have a total nutter in power in the shape of sarah palin. This person is a creationist - ie believes the world is no more than 6000 years old and scoffs at Darwin - enough to exclude her from the monster raving loony party in this country, but no problem in the states. Worrying, thank God they lost!

She was wrong, the world was created in 4004 BC, see Ussher, as quoted in the Scofield Reference Bible.

Hard to disprove actually.
Easy to disprove.

But hard convince someone who believes in fairy stories.
That woman gives me the creeps!! Don't you just feel she has stabbed a lot of people in the proverbial back to get where she is.
Go on then Gromit, disprove it.
Errrrm

Barak Obama , is an evangelical christian
I think the US has recoiled from the brutish foreign policy of the Bush administration. The notion that they are right to inflict - that's the only word - their notion of 'freedom' on other cultures has resulted in bloodshed and terorism on a global scale.

It is time to put in individuals who actually want to look for dialogue and co-operation, not guns and gung-ho.

McCain would have brought more of the same, and Palin is just scary, so, they got it right ... at last!
It is hard to get anyone to agree to be vice president as it is a bit of a non-job. The only time you get anything to do is if the president is assasinated.

Any politician with any hope of being president in the future will never take a vice presidents job, hence some of the terrible people who have had the job in the past.

I know Nixon was vice president and then went on to be president but I am not sure how many other times it has happened.

Gormless . . . I was hoping for one of these.
Carbon dating disproves it as does the whole weight of the rest of science, your argument is the same as me asking you to disprove the existence of the three-headed purple dragons that live in the upper atmosphere.
Yes, Obama is a Christian, he wouldn't have stood a chance otherwise, but I haven't heard him go to extremes as yet.
mariner2, but the people that believe the fairy stories would argue...

"...but science deals only in theories that keep getting changed. The bible is the word of god and therefore is infallible.

But why can't those people see that 2000 years ago man had NO idea of how things happened - lightning, the aurora borealis, total solar eclipses etc so they quite understandably made up some reasons.
Now we do know and it's time to move on, and scientific theory keeps changing because things are disproved and we keep making new discoveries
I checked out Ussher by the way and he reckons the earth was created instantly on October 23rd 4004bc, at 9.00am (it's a shame it wasn't "about tea time")
Hi, Gormless, thanks for that info. You learn something every day. It`s Scofield that gives me the creeps.

According to exit polls the majority of people voted democrat because of the economy nothing to do with Iraq.

Not true - Dick Cheney has got a lot of responsibilities as will Joe Biden. They dont just sit around waiting for an impeachment, assasination or a pretzel incident. They have a portfolio of responsibilities. Many commentators said that Cheney had too much power and should not have been given the reign he had.
did he say where it was 9am, mariner? Or was it just bit by bit starting at the International date line?
-- answer removed --
Ussher stated his time of Creation (nightfall preceding Sunday, October 23, 4004 BC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ussher_chronology
re Ussher: None of was around in 4004 BC, possibly no human beings at all, so even given the likelihood that the Earth was blue and spinning at the time, it is difficult to conclude much else.

I have just been reading that the Universe is TRILLIONS of light years wide and still expanding. Again, nice to theorize, very hard to prove.
Which is X * 1,000,000,000 * 186,000 * 60 * 60 * 24 * 365.25 * laughter-factor miles away.

The trouble with the Gormless brigade is that they take pride in the fact that nothing will ever change their mind, no matter how conclusive the proof may be.
I on the other hand will instantly admit to being wrong if the existence of a god, or the theory of creationism is proven.
Well you won't have much choice Marina when your cloggs are popped and you've one peeved deity staring you in the face asking if you believe now...
9am sounds ludicrously precise, of course. Nonetheless scientists believe it did all happen in a fraction of a second. That second was just as likely at 9am as at any other time; some day, I suppose, some scientist will be able to calculate when it was. I shall be surprised if it proves to have been 4004BC, though.
