i think befor 69 because he used to sing in his school band in zansibar (not sure how to spell that) in india.

look for some rare vinyls recorded as larry lurex - i think this is the pseudonym he 1st recorded under ( i havent read the link cos its cheating)

He recorded with Queen BEFORE he used the Larry Lurex name. He sang with a band called Wreckage when he was at Art School and I think he also sang with a group called Ibex.
