British sprinter Dwain Chambers will not be able to run at the Olympics after he lost his attempt to overturn his lifetime ban.

The 30-year-old took his case to secure an injunction against the British Olympic Association by-law to the High Court, but the ruling went against him.

Under BOA rules, the sprinter was banned from future Games after testing positive for the steroid THG in 2003.

Chambers had argued that the ban was an unfair restraint of trade.

But Mr Justice Mackay refused to grant an injunction to temporarily suspend the lifetime ban before a full hearing in March next year.

In his summing up, Mr Mackay said Chambers' right to work was not a good enough reason to overturn the ban.

Good result - drugs will not be tolerated

or

Bad Result - he has made mistakes, been banned but a lifetime ban is too long.

Good. He cheated. End of.
Excellent result.

He has still been running and earning good money elsewhere. I'm really pleased that he won't be allowed to disgrace our national team.
Good result. He's a cheat and it will send the right message to anyone else who might be tempted.
I would guess all those who have competed without the aid of drugs will be well pleased!!!
the lifetime ban is just from the Olympics, so he can run elsewhere. Since not all nations are as strict, it's possible other drug cheats will take his place on the podium, which is irritating, but I can't feel any sympathy for him. Without the drugs, how good would he have been?
Just to add... I think I'm correct in saying, even on the drugs, he never won anything major...
A good verdict and I am pleased.

If he had been American, Russian, Chinese or French he would have been seen as having served his ban and would probably have been picked.
Trying to stop sportsmen , taking drugs is a waste of time .
It's like King Canute standing on the shore , trying to stop the the waves coming in - it's not going to happen .

We can never be sure that anyone winning a medal or not , has not taken any drugs . The thing is not to get caught .

Let them take whatever performance enhancing drug they want - that way there will be a level playing field .

Radical perhaps , for some people , but true .
>Let them take whatever performance enhancing drug they want - that way there will be a level playing field .

One of the STUPIDEST suggestions I have ever heard.

If you do that all you are doing is giving medals to the best chemists not the best sportsman.

If your suggestion is taken up you may as well stop all sporting events as they will be a farce.
Judging by some of your postings on here , you're not too far off being the village idiot , yourself .

Do you think that all is fair and equal in sports ?

Untill ALL COUNTRIES ban all cheats from competition in whatever sports forever , then thats exactly what is going to happen - the best 'chemist' or the equivalent will be the winner
I think it in one way it is great that he cannot compete, but if he had been allowed to, and he had won, he would probably be one of the only ones in the olympics NOT to be on drugs, isn't life full of irony sometimes.
How can he ever redeem himself?
He should have run and become a great role model for kids.
Poor Dwain!

My heat bleeds for him in his adversity - NOT!

I think a lifetime ban is too long.

Ok he did a bad thing, but is it worst than murder???

No , of course its not worse than murder... but in terms of the olympics, who's whole ethos is based on 'fair and level competition' Chambers deserves all he got.
Back to the American Football, the Rugby League .......whatever. The bloke's a pain in the ariss.
What if he now turned to crime to make a living?
Unlikely, but suppose?
well if he did that Theland at least he could run away from the crime scene quickly.
Nice one Ray!
Or perhaps he could get an ordinary job like the rest of us...seeing as he was only extraordinary when he was injecting, that would make him plain and unremarkable like the rest of the population.
He could get a job as a "runner" for the local dealers.
