But that 'news' item is dated 01/09/2006.

The tories will have changed policies on this many times since then. Cameron's policy on the hoof approach means they can say whatever they think sounds good on the day.
Jake it seems that you are already taking up the job of "opposition" well done, it seems a Noo Labour massacre is inevitable when even it's most evangelical followers start trying to slag off the Governement in waiting before they even take office.

As Gromit says, dead Item. Policies change to reflect prevailing conditions, well they do outside of noo labour anyway!
Quite unlikely that they would do that now. It rather looks like all parties are re-thinking the 'green' tax.

Peraonly I think green tax is rubbish. You are litereally p*ssing in the ocean. Plus most people have now seen through it as just a way of raising revenue, in other words it is no longer a 'firendly' tax.

In addition there is little point in the uk totally trashing its economy when no one else does. It just does not make sense. Sorry tree huggers time for you to s*d off.

No Not only fools and horses!

You remember - blessed by Apollo with the gift of foresight but cursed not to be believed.

I don't think Cameron will flip-flop, even last year the environment policy report was promising to tax the pollutor, add VAT to internal air flights and introduce a top rate of tax for the most polluting cars

If you think it's bad now - wait till Mr "Hug A Husky" gets in.

You have been warned!
So jake, you are resigned to the fact that Mr C will winthe next election.

Excellent!
Surrender then Jake ?

Well no boner really. Can't get worse than Mc Bottle.
Jake - your there ?
Cameron will certainly come to power, probably but not certainly at the next election. Doubtless one's chauffeurs will be exempt from any taxation he imposes.
Its not the escalator I'm worried about as the price has increased way beyond inflation. Opec are hardly likely to climb down. We will have to change our tax strategy and not use the motorist as a cash cow. What about introducing a higher rate of tax at 60%? At the same time reduce our tax on fuel to the EU average.
why not tax motorists? They're using up a non-renewable resource at a rate of knots, quite apart from the danger and the pollution. Bring back the horse and cart.
