As usual, the phrase 'lessons will be learned' will be banded about.

One of the neighbours said that she was putting out bread in her garden for the birds when the so called father told her to stop doing that, i can only assume that the children think there are six in total were trying to get out and eat it!!!
That's terrible.

As for reporting, as horrible as it may sound, I'm not sure i'd do it if i saw a thin child. Mini Boo herself is a skinny thing, but it's not for want of lack of food! And if i saw another thin child I wouildn't naturally assume that it was because it was starving, i'd presume that child, like my own was just a mini whirlwind and never still long enough for any fat to stick on to her.

Of course, if the thinness was coupled with looking lifeless etc, then that would be a different matter.

Is there a link to where you got the story from puddicat?

no not as yet was breaking news on itv lunchtime news, i dont think they were just thin boo they were emacaited!!!
Will have a scout round puddicat- thanks :-)

That's what i was getting at I suppose, whether I'd notice if a child was thin or severely undernourished. I'd like to think that I would (tell the difference I mean) and duly report it.

lol, am i making ANY sence here?
It's heart breaking, I'd just come in for my lunch & it made me feel sick.
Yes, I know what you mean B00, my two were skinny - but they were healthy & full of energy.
I can't find any reference to this story, have you got any idea where this happened puddicat?
Terrible news, the story has just broke on Sky news, but no article about on net yet... just says ... story to follow!
It`s on Sky News

I had to switch it off as stories like that turn my stomach

How can people be so cruel?

daffy in handsworth birmingham, still breaking news! the little girl was at deaths door rushed her to hospital, police were called to house and found another 5 children in a room on mattresses in a distressed state, they have arrested a 29 year old man and a 33 year old woman

This is the only story I can find that sounds similar but there is no mention of other children and it happened at the weekend.
Seems like it must be the same story. That poor child must have suffered horribly! I hope the parents get what is coming to them.
There must have been some knowledge that something was wrong. Five children in one household and at least one of school age? It seems unbelievable that noone knew what was going on. We live in a society now where neighbours are frightened to intervene in case of trouble. How sad is that!

Poor, poor little children. I hope that the others go on to have the life they deserve and those responsible and locked away for a long time.
That is absolutely breathtaking.
But not really a surprise. We seem to be witnessing a subclass in Britain where this sort of occurrance is more and more frequent. What a dreadful piece of news.
How you can do that to anyone, never mind your own children is sickening beyond words.

No bloody wonder I prefer animals to most people, humans never fail to make me ashamed to be one of them!
My Mum's a Child Psychologist who works with families in the community, and she tells me (heavily edited) stories like this quite often. Tales of excrement on the walls of people's houses, children as young as 2 left to their own devices all day / night, children force fed drugs to keep them subdued....I'm with Boo on this one, I much prefer animals to humans :o(
Cheers cherries, someone somewhere here will call the adults responsible here 'animals'. No animal would deliberately do this to their offspring.
I would generally agree with Boo and Cheries, it is very rare that animals don't take the greatest care of their offspring until they can care for themselves. Something a lot of humans don't seem to be capable of.
I can never understand people referring to horrible humans as animals. It is actually quite flattering to be compared to an animal!!
