.......for this little website then?

It has to be said the standard of your average question has fell through the floor on here and due to loads of the regular contributers being cheesed off and not posting as much the standard of answers overall has plummeted as well.......Is it all down to the new ownership of the site?

Your thoughts on the back of a sealed down envelope to....well to the box above actually.

I have been here before more than once I can assure all of you...the site does go through phases of inactivity and being swamped by kids but this recent bout has been much much worse than every before and has changed the tone of the site completely.....I am in no way suggesting that all the newcomers to the site should be lumped in one basket, obviously I along with everyone else here welcome erudite intelligent respondants and questioners but the recent influx seems to be largely made up of txt speaking yoofs asking moronic or just plain rude questions.....What the newcomers won't be aware of was the quality of editorialship that we had before which quickly clamped down on such shenanigans and given short shrift (I know I along with others did complain about the old ed but it's true you don't know how good something is till something worse replaces it).

I don't mind anyone posting a question that I might find obvious or easy to answer, I will either ignore those or post a link to previously answered questions if applicable but some are just way too silly or juvenille...I feel this tend to lower the tone and quality of the site as a whole and if they are not monitored and removed it simply leads to more of the same rather like graffito on a wall.

I hope this doesn't appear as a superior attitude, it's certainly not meant to be that way it's only to try and protect a great site from becoming another moronic teen angst chat site of which the web has more than enough of already.

I agree 100% sft. I could not have worded that any better. I drift back to AB every so often and get sick of the constant child like postings about anything that refers to bodily functions or sex. Serious questions on ANY subject are welcome, but most of them dont seem genuine. Like you say, I was one of those who moaned about the old Editor, but I wish it was back to how it was.I thought you had left AB, nice to see you around.
I'm with I.R. - I'm fascinated by Answerbank after discovering it through a recent google search, one of the things which has been interesting me is the elitist undertone running through the site which is as off-putting as some of the things people are bleating about
I, too, am relatively new to the site and think it is fantastic. From what I can make out, the new owners have only been running this site for a couple of months now, so, granted, it may take a while for the new Editors to work out what the AB population likes or dislikes and act accordingly. I agree completely about the 'elitist undertone' that sometimes comes through here - live and let live, man - if no-one pays attention to questions that offend them, whoever posts them won't get the obvious reaction they desire and so leave the rest of us in peace. No?
Well I'm still here despite the fact that this site goes through its ups and downs - I guess you just learn to ignore the rubbish and respond to the sane stuff - though I do think they should change site tag from Where your knowledge counts to Pedants of the World unite!
Going by what's been happening on the site recently, "Rude_Answersbank" would be a fitting name!
