It's a tragedy, but why is Britain always expected to pay for everthing that happens on planet earth?

I can't believe the Chinese Govt today sent out a request for Rescue Equipment - including hammers!! I thought China was the number one exporter for cheap poorly made handtools - surely they're one country that probably has a surplus of hammers?
I agree with kev1,Tetjam and KRUSTYMAN,

What about the people in UK?
I am fed up with adverts for charities to help people around the world.
And what really annoys me, is the appeals on TV to help the british abused children, cancer suffers, old aged people, etc, etc, etc.

What is the government spending all our taxes on, and why should they we be asking the UK people for money when so many millions is being wasted in Iraq and Afghanistan.

SOD other Country's, lets look after our own first.
BTW,

Where was the help last year for all the people who were flooded out of their homes, and still living in caravans?

Answer........ NONE.
I heard today that the builders who built the shoddy schools will be put on trial and possibly executed.
this country throws away 750 million each year to Africa, but as usual cant sort out its own problems
And Africa is no better off either for it so where has all the money gone?
Charity starts at home, a great saying I think
As I see it there seems to be no shortage of Chinese govenment supplies for the stricken - the problem is getting it to the places that are cut off - so no amount of donations are going to help there then are they?
There will be thousands of parents who have lost their children who I'me sure would be pleased to give homes to those who have lost parents. It has been a most terrible disaster. I know this seems hard but it's true.
Turn your anger instead onto the Junta of Myanmar who are prepared to let the whole population affected by the cyclone, starve thats if they dont die of typhoid/dysentry first.
I feel only disgust for them!
WOW , here's a first . for once i agree with every answer to this post . Very good answer's from all of you .
Yes, and it's not very often people agree with Tetjam / Mamjet!

As Bernard Manning would say...

Send them some spades....there`s fooking thousands over here
I suppose we could help by buying less of their cheap shoddy goods. Then they could re-employ those workers in the clean up.
It did puzzle me too. I saw on the News last night people with collecting tins (in London I assume) - what on earth is the money going to be used for?

Time and again...........our giving to these 'charadees' boils down to;

Poor people in rich countries giving money to rich people in poor countries.........

By all means send out heat-seeking cameras and rescue dogs, any and all of our appropriate skills ought to be offered as these will directly help the people of China.............but please not our hard earned 's which will evaporate long before they get to those most needy.
