what do you mean the law of it, the dvla have strict guidlines on medical conditions,ie level one for normal drivers.level 2 for taxis, hgv and psv drivers and if you have been ill, then restrictions are put on your licence, that is the law,if you want to appeal, you can,but a medical will need to be done by a independant doctor.
I'm diabetic, and I'm restricted to cars and vans/trucks under 3.5 tonnes.

The premise behind this is that if I happen to have a hypoglaecemic attack at the wheel, I'm more likely to kill more people in a HGV than in my Chevrolet Kalos (which is probably true). Whatever your condition is, this will be the very basic reason behind it.

Same reason I can't drive a taxi, etc.

That said, I could have four passengers in my car and drive into a queue of people at a bus stop in my car, but there you go.

If you need further advice, I have the complete DVLA guidelines on my desk (how clear they are though is beyond me)
