Do you see someone of a different ethnic origin and think I'm going to get beat up/stabbed/robbed? Are you too scared to go into some areas of the town where you live because of the ghetto culture which seems to be rife in the UK? With Leicester heading towards being the first UK city to have a white minority what are your views?
Personally I don't share this fear of other ethnic origins. I'm just wondering how many of you other AB's do and perhaps why?

i knew someone from oldham and that is why he moved, why not try a visit to this town at night. i have been during the day time and that was bad enough for me.
Both the BBC and the Guardian gave out incorrect information this week.

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/pages/live/articles /news/news.html?in_article_id=560180&in_page_i d=1770

Mrs Spence was so annoyed and bemused that she was forced to issue her own statement in response to the BBC and Guardian stories, restating her case.

And rank-and-file police were "spitting feathers" that ACPO had cut the legs from under chief constables on the eve of their meeting with Miss Smith.

Then came the leak, which thankfully set the record straight. Cash-strapped chief constables must now hope the Home Secretary (as she surely must) bases her decision on what the report actually says - rather than what the pro-migration lobby hoped it would say, and did its best to spin.

From your link: Neither she nor any other respected critic had suggested the new arrivals were committing disproportionate levels of overall crime (indeed, it is widely accepted - not least by the Daily Mail - that the vast majority are here to work hard).

Ha ha ha
We used to live in Oldham. We moved out 5 years ago. A couple of years before we moved we stopped shopping in Oldham town centre because of the gangs of asian youths congregating in the main shopping areas. We changed our vet because he was situated in Werneth which is a no go area for whites. My daughter left Oldham college because her and her friends were being sexually harrassed by asians. When they complained to the dean all he would do is advise them to always walk around in pairs. She was too frightened to continue there. We had leaflets pushed through our letter boxes proclaiming that islam was the only true religion, and that Jesus was a muslim. then the riots kicked off. We decided to get out.
people want to try and walk in alex park during the day ???
My friend moved from Preston for many of the reasons listed above. She also said that in shops run by Asians, they would refuse to speak to non Asians and hiss under their breath at white women.
She was relieved to move.
Apart from Leicester being the first UK city to be heading for having a white minority, they will be having a female Asian Mayor as well !!!!!!
She was on a TV programme tonight about immigrants in the UK.
We used to live in Oldham. We moved out 5 years ago. A couple of years before we moved we stopped shopping in Oldham town centre because of the gangs of asian youths congregating in the main shopping areas. Luckily, in other towns there are white youths who congregate but they are all peace loving and non intimidating We changed our vet because he was situated in Werneth which is a no go area for whites. My daughter left Oldham college because her and her friends were being sexually harrassed by asians. luckily no white person has ever been accused of sexual harrasment When they complained to the dean all he would do is advise them to always walk around in pairs what we really wanted is all Asians thrown off the campus .She was too frightened to continue there. We had leaflets pushed through our letter boxes proclaiming that islam was the only true religion, and that Jesus was a muslim. again, lucky that no Christians put leaflets through he door, or heaven forbid, knock on the door and try to convert you to their religion then the riots kicked off. We decided to get out.And that of course is all down to the Asians - the white population were just peace seeking people who wanted to be left alone.
i had a bad experience near oldham shopping centre forced to walk in the road by asian youths, but you can get problems with gangs of youths of any colour.when people say that there are NO no go areas for whites they have never been there at night and call you a liar. i think some people live on another planet sometimes !!!!!
Oneeyedvic ever been in alex park on a sunny afternoon ?
oneeyedvic.....did you used to live in Oldham too then? Persianlady is obviously talking from experience and fact. I would be interested to know what Oldham was like when persianlady first moved there.......that way we can all make a judgement and have an opionion on how things have changed based on her experience.
No I don't live in Oldham - but you could change that scene to another town / city in the UK and replace Asian with white.

Gangs of youths are intimidating whatever their colour. Would you be more scared of three asian people dressed in suits or three white people with skin heads and tattoos?

There are areas I wouldn't want to go in lots of parts of the country - some are white areas, some are asian areas and some are black areas.

Do you fancy going for a pub crawl around Glasgow on a Friday night? I wouldn't.
I agree to a point......I think its more about the speed at which towns and cities have deteriorated to a degree where we are scared to walk around but Government and Police alike do not know how to deal with it. Glasgow has always had the reputation of being rough but now it seems all areas of the country are plagued by gang culture. There has to be a reason for this ? If, as DarkMajes71c says 'with Leicester heading towards being the first UK city to have a white minority' questions have to be asked. There must be strong reasons why this has occured, possibly itimidation, I dont know, but ime sure its nothing to do with the weather ! if you get what I mean. It seems anyone of any colour, race or religion cant integrate with any particular area, it still stays segregated and seperate. An example of this would be, my friend lived in Luton until recently as she worked at Luton airport, she has since moved as the area has completely changed to the point where her car was getting pelted with objects driving down certain roads during the day on her way to work. She described these roads as resembling little india with a hatred of white people, men or women, she has therefore been hounded and intimidated out of her home just trying to conduct her daily life.
My partner used to live in a town in Herts. And wanted to move to where I live in the midland. Where in the village that I live in, I only know of a couple of immigrants who work at one restaurant and a car wash place, and everyone is pretty much middle class white british citizens.
The polish where he lived over-populated the place. Standing on the road side and in the shopping centre drinking and being abusive 24/7. None of his family would dare to go into the centre of the town at night-time now.
Surelt britannia cannot let her own country's people be scared of their own country? We're not in the middle of a war torn country.
I make no apology for my comments. The question was asked so I answered. I realise that my comments will be perceived as racist by some people.......TOUGH! WE lived there, this was our experience. If you have never had to push your way through a gang of hostile young men who deliberately would not move to let you pass, then you have no idea how it feels. Dont you dare to presume to know what we wanted when my daughter complained to the dean about the sexual harrassment. she and her friends were threatened with rape. what we wanted was for it to stop.If the culprits had not been Asian I have no doubt the dean would have dealt with it. I have no experience of harrassment with white youths. We do not frequent town centre pubs, or go on pub crawls anywhere. What you do not expect is to encounter intimidation whilst shopping on a Saturday afternoon.
When we first moved to Oldham in 1986 we had no problems. We thought we would be there for the rest of our lives. But over the last couple of years we were there we became aware of the hostility. It is hard to define. Anyway, I am glad to be out of there. It seems there are others posting on this thread who are familiar with Oldham, unlike oneeyedvic. Unless you have been there, how the hell do you know what it is like? I used to dread going to the vet because of its location. On almost every occasion a group of asian young men would saunter into the road deliberately, you had no choice but to stop. They would then move out of the way, highly amused and SO bloody cocky! It was so tempting to just carry on and knock them down. I believe the vet had to relocate eventually because he lost too many clients, and asians dont usually keep pets and thus have no need for vets.
I'm sorry to here that persianlady, and I doubt that you are racist. It was a series of horrible experiences you had to put up with.
I am glad to here you are out of there and are living a better more peaceful live elsewhere.
Ime sure there are many areas of Britain that in 1986 were beautiful peaceful places to live and had been so for centuries, so why arent they now? If the immigration had been harder for all entrants to our country, things would have been much different. ie. an insistance that our cultures, morals, laws, language etc be respected and learned in depth. As has been said on another thread, if you come here, learn to live with us. Australia seems to have adopted a fantastic stance on this issue. There is no doubt in my mind that the gang culture is predominantly amongst ethnic groups and we cant deal with it as a nation as we are labelled racist, it seems they can not and will not integrate with the white British people until we believe in what they want us to belive in, ie, their religions, laws, cultures etc. I am in no way a racist but i resent being told what I should and should not do or think, if youre nice to me, ime nice to you, simple.
i live in luton, and at the moment there are a few roads where people have been knocking on doors to find out if muslims live at the address, and the ones where they dont have had bricks etc thrown through their windows.its obvious intimidation to drive them out of 'their' area. the police have been accused of doing nothing. no surprise. as for oneeyedvic, any particular reason you felt the need to attack persionlady for giving her view? if an asian, african lady had complained her daughter had been threatened with rape by white boys at her college and the dean had done nothing, are you telling us he wouldn't be accused of being a racist?would you imply she was a racist too if she complained?no, and the police would be expected to drop everything to catch these boys wouldn't they? if you've got any decency you'd apologise.bet you don't.
Apologise for what exactly? And how did I attack her? I simply pointed out my views of her views. I am sorry that you feel this is an attack. I thought this was a site to exchange viewpoints.

I have not called Persian lady racist - I have simply pointed out that the fears she has with asians is exactly the same as other people fear with white people.

I walk around a park opposite where I live - there are often youths in there 'picking' on anyone who passes by and shouting abuse at them.

What colour are they? White. Is this relevant? No.

People of any colour should not be behaving in this matter. As the latest police report stated - immigrants do not commit any more crimes that the indigenous population (though I concede that there is a higher cost involved with processing them).

The question author asked the question: "Do you see someone of a different ethnic origin and think I'm going to get beat up/stabbed/robbed?" To my mind it is like saying do you see someone white and think he might be a paedophile?

I will also repeat my question:

Would you be more scared of three asian people dressed in suits or three white people with skin heads and tattoos?
I live very close to the peckham area and as such spend quite a lot of time there and in other areas in London regarded as not particularly sound and with a high ethinic background. I don't get any more scared walking around there than I would do in Guildford at stupid o'clock in the morning. I've stated before that the problems tend to start at poverty rather than a racial level.
