Who is really responsible? The boy who, from the report is morally damaged, or the parent(s) who raised him up with violence and porn?

Not trying to excuse his behaviour by any means but when you are lucky enough to have been brought up by good decent parents yourself and then do the best to bring up your own children in the same manner, it is almost impossible to imagine living the life that some unfortunate children live!! I don't know what the answer is Ethel but I'm willing to bet that this wee lad's parents had much the same upbringing as him!

I expect you're right. I wish there was a simple solution to this, but there isn't.
Know where you're coming from libertie and can understand what you're saying, but isn't it sad when we consider children with a normal up-bringing as "lucky"?

I hope that the 12 year old boy's parents are brought to task over this- I really hope he hasn't got brothers and or sisters who are also recieving the same up-bringing he got!
This is sad and sickening. Both the parents and boy are to be blamed. Just for the fact that boy admitted he committed this action to win a game shows that he knew it was something wrong, and it was a crime. In these times normal twelve year olds are sensible enough to know what sex is. I find judges are to lenient with their judgment.

The little girl is the victim here, not the rapist. Why is he being sympathised with and portray as the victim?
The Marxists on here and all the evil woolley social-working sociology A level studenty d!ck wipes can go and take a running jump.

Sexual assault and rape is one of the few crimes where class is not really an issue.

Therefore all this hogwash about his upbringing holds no weight at all.

The age of criminal responsibilty is set at Ten. He was twelve.

He should have acid thrown over his under-developed and hairless genitals, his eys gauged out with a rusty screwdriver and have his patella smashed.

Then given some warm clothes and food to keep him alive and set free on the Scottish Highlands.

The boy is scum, probably born evil regardless of his foul parents.

Regarding the parent or parents, I do not believe they should be punished for the boys actions. Yes the possible emotional, physical, or sexual abuse they may have inflicted of course needs to be investigated and dealt with accordingly, but held accountable for the boys actions NO.

Yes, people may say I am a touch harsh wishing life long sufferring on a 12 year old, but if I had a daughter of 7 who was even slapped by a 12 year boy, let alone raped, I can assure you he will at least lose his eys, his penis and the use of his legs.

I hope he does the decent thing and adds to the statistics of child suicides. Save the decent tax payer a fortune.

Rot in hell Rapist-Boy.
Don't agree Wardy (now there's a shock eh? LOL)

The boy obviously needs help, counselling, whatever. He, according to the article, doesn't understand right from wrong.

His parents ARE somewhat accountable for his actions, it was their up-bringing (or lack of it) which lead to it. They need to be brought to task, and hopefully this might, just might be some kind of scare tactics to other equally lackdaisical parents.

surely Ian Huntley needs help?

Rose West??

The terrorists who tried to blow up london??

who in their right minds would kill and rape children, bury people under their patio and blow up normal commuters on the underground??

All mad as fish but deemed fit to be tried at court and serve time in normal prisons and NOT looney bins like Sutcliffe and Brady etc.

As said, the age of criminal responsibility is 10 in the UK. When this changed from 14, it was a tough decision which pooled together politicians, law lorss, child psychologists, psychiatrists, top teachers etc etc etc . It was not a crazy off the cuff legal act.

All rapists need help, but they also need punishing. Burn his kiddy winkle with acid and the little piece of filth with never do it again.

12 year old boys who have brought up in a violent home where watching hard core porn is the norm is not going to have the right morals and awareness of right and wrong.

He has also raped a 4 year old boy (allegedly). Should he been put in to the care system a long time ago? Would he have been a different boy with a different upbringing?

To rape in law one must actually penetrate the victim. Now with out being too graphic, the chances are this was downstairs on the poor girl (although a mouth will constitute rape nowadays).

now my point is to penetrate downstairs he must have been aroused because with a softie, entry is just impossible.

Given the fact he was drunk as well (and I am certain youthful brewers droop, still occurrs) this 12 year old was sexually aroused. He therefore in the Devil incarnate and needs to be executed.

By saying he watched hardcore as a child, was brought up in a violent home, blah blah blah.

Well that just gives an inbstant alibi to about 90 percent of all crime, let alone rape.

he is a rapist, simple as that. I didn't set the age of responsibility at ten. I therefore treat him with the same level of disgust and abhorrence as an adult rapist.

Yes, ethel, he probably should have been put in to care from birth. But he wasn't. And it is too late to rue that decision now. But he was accountable for his raping actions and he must pay.

It is just my definition of pay may be viewed draconian.

Oh forget the last, I have just read the rape only lasted less than a minute. That's Ok then, give him three years with a marxist social worker and prohibit him from working with kids later in life. As if he is ever going to work anyway!!!!
if you do an adult crime get adult time.parents may well have had some imput, but sometimes people are born just evil...i so don't want to go along with bewlay bros punishments but if someone did that to my daughter i am afraid i would do the same as bewlay.
i do hope the parents are sterilized asp and 12y old...why has he not been named and shamed,at least name the parents.i know there be reprisals.. tough let them take there chances.let the public judge his upbringing, and perhaps the powers that be could listen to us as to how we change things...
just to add maxine carr is having a baby, how selfish can you get.that kid going to have police protection all his childhood.she had any feelings any decent'y she would not subject a child to that.she costing tax payer god knows what, should a decent society allow a woman like that to have a child.and we asking who is to blame with the 12yr old,who gonna take blame for maxine.our judicial system stinks.
I believe that in this country (or any other) if you're not going to have a death sentance then you must have a life sentance that means life.
The trouble with this story is all the "help" he's going to recieve will amount to some wishy washy limp wristed fool reminding him constantly that it's not his fault. It was his fault regardless of what went on with his upbringing, it was his fault because he did it.
I don't agree with state sponsored torture, but he should reside in jail for a very very long time.
In Manchester a 12 year old girl was raped by a 14 year old boy and he got a community service order because "technically the rape was'nt at knife point"!!?? God forbid but if that happened to one of mine I'd just kill him, no ar5ing about burning and scalding him, I'd just walk up to whatever railing he was painting and shoot him in the head. Then I'd quietly sit and wait for the Police, if the law won't give you justice, who will?
do adult crime serve adult time.think we need secure places like place little jamie buldgers killers went into.b forced into being a good person if it possible...yes parents should take flak.you punish a teacher if taught your child this.,,,parents serve prison term long one nerver be allowed in proximity of any child under 18 again.forced to see what they done made to see what pathetic people they are and how they produced another one
I used to work with one of the Bulger killers uncles, a really nice bloke. I believe in free will, sometimes people just make bad choices, and then reinforce them with even worse decisions. If only it was that easy, I always say blame the perpertrator.
I think the fault in this situation, and that of Thompson and Venebles, depends on whether or not you believe an individual is born evil or not. Personally, I don't think so. I think an individual's home circumstances and education play the major part on their moral understanding at this age. I believe that this child's parents should be held at least partly responsible as they did not teach their child to value and respect others. But we all know that won't happen.
