Hello All
Does anyone know who will receive or what will happen to the 112 million pound fine the supermarkets had this week, after being found guilty of fixing the price of milk and cheese?

Anyone any suggestions as to where it should go?

Thanks Hedge

I agree, obviously its the producer and the purchaser who have been hit by the supplier fixing prices. The farmers should get it in my opinion.
in theory it goes to the government and ultimately enables them to keep taxes down, for consumers and farmers alike. I wouldn't utterly bet on taxes falling, but it helps.
My employer was recently 'fined' by two supermarkets, Tesco and Asda, 750,000 and 250,000 respectively, for not delivering good in sufficient quantity at agreed times.
We, the workers in the supply chain ultimately suffer, as another round of cost cutting is enacted to balance the books - I presume.
Morally, the supermarkets are bankrupt, regardless of what it says on the balance sheet.
The sad thing is, there is little to be done about it.
costs will rise - so if you are a supermarket shopper then you'll pay the fine i imagine ...

Looking at previous fines made to large companies the money will go into the government pot. When they put a 1 million pound fine on Nationwide Building Society for losing that briefcase the people who had to pay up were the customers as it is not owned by shareholders. So they were stealing from you and me for someone else's mistake!
The milk producers should get it, as that is the reason the supermarkets gave for the price rises. LIARS!
