Why when Conservatives step out of line or are involved in some scandal, they are immediatly sacked or banished to the back benches. They are not slow to get rid of their leaders if the need arises also. Yet the same doesn't apply in the Labour Party?

Typical examples of Labour's support for their lame ducks, their sexual indiscretions and their dodgy deaings are, the continued support for Ian Blair, Tony Blairs support for David Blunkett, the Keith Vaz affair, and the ultimate crime of all, their support for their leader at the time, Tony Blair.

Maybe the Labour Party is just more loyal?

What Scandal was Iain Diuncan-Smith involved in that made you lot stab him in the back before he even had the chance to contest an election?
You missed John Prescot off your list there AOG, he had more chances than a game of Monopoly!
What did Keith Vaz do? He used to be my local MP when I lived in Leicester.
The saddest part about this is I don't consider it a "scandal" at all. Surely the man is allowed to speak what he and others consider to be the truth. He actually may have received more votes for it in any election - that was before the Tories jumped to conclusions that this was politically incorrect.
If more MP's and prospective MP's would stand up and be counted then we might just have a more pro-active Government.
As for Enoch........he had the right idea. "Rivers of Blood" he said......well lets see nearly 40yrs on and we have gangs, drug dealers, drive by shootings and stabbings...we're getting there !!!
......and I forgot to mention the 2000 odd terrorists ( double that ??? ) as pointed out by MI5 today !

The scandal, Dassie, is that after all the "cuddly conservatism" work that his glorious leader has been doing he lifted the mask and showed the that the party is still harbouring people who's thinking is rooted 40 years in the past and revolve around emotions of hatred and fear

Enoch cared more for this country than the pillocks in government today, can you not wait to get rid of this so called prime minister, we can then possibly save on the billions he is pushing up north of the border where most things are free paid for by us.
jake....it's not "hatred and fear",.it's called self-preservation.

I bet you wouldn't want to open up your own private residence to a bunch of terrorists and knife-weilding individuals who would eventually take over your life !
I know I wouldn't .....and that goes for the Country as well.
Fear and Hatred AND self-serving "Me-ism" all wrapped up in a flag.

If ever I find myself thinking "maybe I should give Cameron a chance " I only have to drop by here to see the emotions behind conservatism to set me straight!

You're a public service really
Getting rid of people willy-nilly is very easy to propose (and much easier to do when in opposition) but causes far more problems and difficulties when you're actually in government. I agree that there should be some punitive action when the person has done something visibly illegal, but if a PM has confidence that someone is doing a good job (and if they're not they shouldn't really be there) it must be difficult to deliberately cause so much administrative hassle.

They are not slow to get rid of their leaders if the need arises also

Mostly because since '97 they've all failed miserably... The tories haven't been knocking off leaders because of some kind of superior morality, they've been knocking them off because they've been unpopular or unsuccessful. That's essentially the same reason Labour got rid of Blair, and the same reason the Tories got themselves shot of Thatcher.
And there we have it. The rather nasty, vile opinion that all immigrants are either terrorists or knife wielding criminals

Wow jake-the-peg in the minority for a change, where have all his mates gone?

Grow up.

Also, this site is pretty obviously predominantly conservative.
Jake .......yes...... "ME-ism" if you want to call it that.
So although you didn't answer my question, I can assume that "ME-ism" isn't a word used in your household and you WOULD be happy to let immigrants take over your residence and life in the name of the PC Labour brigade!

and Supernick .....no-one said ALL were bad but the discussion point here is if we had listened to Enoch 40 yrs ago we would have LESS of a problem now.

Labour got rid of Blair, didn't he voluntary step down at his own choice?
Under enormous pressure from his party, yes. Just as technically Thatcher stepped down rather than run for a second ballot. In practice, both were toppled by their parties.
So much extremism on here.

'Take over our lives'? 'Knife welding individuals'? Is this an everyday occurence in some part of the UK I know nothing about?

I just don't understand that way of thinking and I'm getting tired of argueing against it.
CD. Try watching theTV news a bit more........and who knocked down that policewoman this past weekend?.....the man arrested had a very English name ( I don't think !).

And you don't think Muslim extremists would take over our lives if they could.......no....probably kill us.
Jake

I laughed so much over my corn flakes this morning at Nigel Hastilow's resignation, that I had milk shooting out of my nostrils.

I don't care what this political minnow said, but what should be worrying for Mr Cameron is that within his ranks there are people who are so heroically niaive to come out with statements like that.

I wonder how his immigrant constituents feel about his position.

Silly fool.
