BBC1 6pm news tonight featured an article about a suitable motto for the UK, a short, pithy statement summing up the character of the UK,suitable for printing on passports, currency etc.
Examples given were of the USA (In God We Trust), France (Liberty,Equality, Brotherhood) and Belgium (Strength through Unity) .
As the contributors here cover such a broad cross section of the political and social spectrum, I thought it might be interesting to hear any suggestions you might be able to come up with :)

I agree with ruby and delboy, but hey...........
THERE'LL ALLWAYS BE AN ENGLAND!
not for the whole UK, dove. I like ruby's suggestion, though that is also used as an English anthem sometimes rather than a British one.
"Bothering foreigners " since 1066..(:O)
Scotland already has a motto,
Nemo me impune lacessit,
in English: No one provokes me with impunity.
Perhaps that would serve as the UK's motto?
