A hapless criminal is thought to have made legal history after he was tried and convicted in a record -breaking 72 minutes,the ministry of justice said.

Shaun Murray 28, from Workington, was found guilty of possessing stolen property at Carlisle crown court.

The trial included the swearing in of the jury, evidence from murray and two prosecution witnesses, closing lawyers' speeches and the judge's summing up.

I'm not sure what sort of sentence he recieved tho, knowing this country they probably made legal history again by giving him a 30 second custodial sentence.

Obviously the ministry of justice is not aware that a ''quicker'' legal system operates on Answerbank:}

its a pity it took that long they should have dragged him into the street and chopped his thieving hands off.....
