More people left the UK last year than in any year since 1991, statistics just released suggest. Some 385,000 people have left the country.

Now before you all start to worry about who is going to pay all your pensions in your dotage, fortunately there were 574,000 immigrants arrived.

Should we start advertising abroad for more immigrants, to keep up with this mass emigration?

Ahem....

Britain Needs You!

Britain... We Love You Really

Britain - We're not all a bunch of moaning poms
More to the point Gromit.

Why are record number of people leaving the UK?

its not to look for work abroard i bet.

I did read recently that 1 in 3 people that retire in the uk, are moving to ireland, what with the cost of living and house prices in ireland, i find that a little baffling, unless its the irish contingent that came over to the UK, in the 50/60's to look for work, moving back?
Just Sighs...

I actually give up.
I suppose they are leaving because they are dissatisfied at home, laurence2. The same as all those Romanians and Bulgarians coming to Britain. Somehow the British think that is an outrageous reason for wanting to come to Britain but ok for wanting to leave.

i"With emigration clearly on the increase and many individuals stating an intention to stay overseas for at least four years, it's perhaps not surprising to discover that for the majority of those intending to emigrate the major reason for wanting to leave the UK was given as better opportunities for employment.

The primary reasons given for emigration are simple and straightforward. Almost without exception, those wishing to emigrate are looking for a better lifestyle and a better future for their families. They want to live in a healthier environment, where the climate's milder and there's generally less congestion. Additionally, they seek an improved standard of living with the opportunity to achieve a better work/life balance."

Hmmm, i bet if you taled to those people off the record, the primary example for leaving will be something different...
The dumbing down of Britain perhaps.
economic migrants, eh Gromit? The scum!
Krun jno krun.

(I need help).
Do you think there is an equivelant AB site in the countries that the British that emigrate to?

Are they posting threads where they fear that their own national identity and all that is great, will be diluted by the mass of British, that far from wanting to work just want to loll around in the sun, go to British pubs, eat gravy on a Sunday when the temperature is in the upper 90s and speak english refusing to learn the host countrys language.
MrBen,

Do you say Hmmm every time you speak? Or is it just when you type?
Stick to the topic NJOK and contribute.
Gromit, how come you never give me three stars?
I feel as though i am being singled out.
I might leave the country for a week...
Ruby, I'm sure Australians have a website where they post jokes like 'You can tell when a plane's landed from Heathrow, the whining goes on after the engines are turned off' and 'The English hide their money under the soap' (a neat double insult).
That means there are 189,000 more people to pay your pension, most immegrants come here to work
MrBen.

You never got 3 stars {likewise} because we are not nodding dogs or members of the PC brigade, what the majority of user's on the news section are

Who gives a jack sh!te about stars, i had them when i won the milk race at school many moons ago lol
