Hi,
Does anyone know more about so called "service charges" for a flat, such as grass cutting, cleaning etc. Can I actually opt out from those charges and not pay for them at all?

Cheers

..... because there are a cost to all of the flats and hence must be shared. What do you think would happen if everyone opted out.
You cannot opt out but the charges do need to be fair and reasonable.
I used to pay approx 140pm service charge. One year.... with 3 weeks notice the bill was 5500. New windows.

If you want to live somewhere nice and well kept and clean?

Then you have to pay for that pleasure if in Leasehold property.
