As we all know, if members of any of other religion stepped out of line in a Muslim country, there'd be merciless reprisals. Yet here we pussyfoot around Muslim fanatics and terrorists, petrified of hurting their feelings...which makes Britain a laughing-stock. Until all British Muslims publicly denounce and actively attempt to prevent extremism, I'd like to see the erecting of Mosques and Muslim schools stopped, all existing Mosques monitored 24 hours a day, all Muslim children forced to attend normal schools wearing normal uniforms, and all Muslims full-stop be made to carry ID cards. Any Muslims who don't like such singling out, can go live somewhere else. How many would complain if they did?

Are so some sort of muslim terrorist 5th columnist flipnflap?

I can think of absolutly nothing these people would like more than what you're suggesting!

Can you not see why they'd absolutely love to see draconian action taken against all muslems in this country?

What do you think would happen if the government did this? they'd all go "home" and watch television instead?
Flipnflop,

Sigh...

i"Weren't you calling for the Catholic church to be closed down and all Irish people deported a few years back?'

was a rhetorical question. I believe you probably were making the same points about catholics and the Irish. (i didn't really remember you).

alright, Muslim sympathisers, how do you think the problems of extremism should be tackled? Or do you not think it is a problem? Let's here you Paul, Gromit, Lambert, etc..
flipnflap

Perhaps you should phrase it as 'terrorist sympathiser' rather than 'Muslim sympathiser'.

It sounds like you think the two words are synonymous, and I don't think you mean that.

"hear"
i've answered your question answer No27 perhaps you didn't read it? hear it is again

treat the terrorists as criminals, just as we did the IRA, UDA et al, there is no need to criminalise a whole community because of a few (very very few) fanatics
By the way, don't you think that your proposals would further radicalise young Muslims who may have been 'siting on the fence'?

Compulsory carrying of ID cards sounds dangerously close to the old 'Star of David' or Pink Triangle.

Really, really, really, really bad idea.

Really unspeakably bad.

All muslims ahould be forced to carry ID?? Can we then have all white males carrying Id so we know they arent about to abduct and molest our children?

Average young muslim males are discriminated against anyway, flipnflap. Maybe not enough for you but I have a few very western looking Pakistani and Indian friends and they get stopped all the time. Travelling in and out of the country is a nightmare for them. I agree with Paul many Islamic leaders denounce the acts of terrorism and if you could open your mind and mix with Muslims you would see the is the case of the vast majority.

As for merciless reprisals in a Muslim country, my uncle was imprisoned in Saudi Arabia and he lived to tell the tale.
public executions? Again, just like they do in Saudi. An excellent idea, though obviously the police will need to practise on a few Brazilian plumbers first.
Can't see how we can really stop ant form opf terrorism totally. If some radical fanatic wants to try and kill people then they will. How many years did we have of it in Northern Ireland? Too many.

What stopped that was negotiations but I suppose pulling out of Afghanistan an Iraq might help. Jusy let them carrying on killing each other, don't see what business it is of ours anyway.

Before any do gooders say Saddam was a tyrant, the taliban were bad men etc etc, what about Zimbabwe? North Korea? Pakistan and India having nuclear weapons? etc etc.

Taking your initial thoughts as a starting point, how many Muslim-only schools are these in this country? There are some schools in the East End which are about 80% Muslim, but this is because of the make up of the local community, not because they're specific faith schools.

What should happen if, for whatever reasons, Muslim parents do not wish to have their kids schooling upset by moving schools?

Should they be arrested?

And what about the kids?

What I'm trying to put across is that your ideas are pretty extreme and the chance of them ever making us all 'safer' is non-existent.
The police have to take these people seriously but we have to laugh at them.

Nobody joins an organisation that is the constant target of ridicule.

And Oh my what scope there is

They can't even detonate their carbombs properly, one catches fire and the other gets spotted after it's in the pound.

The "suicide" attack on Glasgow airport ends up with them burning themselves and legging down the road with their hair on fire

Surely God is on their side!

What is this? the Norman Wisdom terrorist technique?

I remember when terrorists were "proper terrorists" Semtex and AK47 not wannabe's mixing up hair dressing supplies!

Do their mothers know they're out?
flipnflop,

I would find it very difficult to defend islam or christianity for that matter. I think is all hokum. I am all for rooting out terrorists but I do not believe all muslims or catholics etc are terrorists, and I do not believe in punishing innocent people for the crimes of a deluded few. I think the measures you advocate would actually have the effect that the terrorists would like. You would cause resentment among innocent people who then might say, there is a conspiracy against Islam afterall.
Extremism and terrorism needs to be tackled, just make sure you target the criminals and not people you deem guilty by association.

Gromit, those Muslims who fail to educate Muslim extremists, to help bring Muslim terrorists to justice must surely share their guilt
why should all muslims be held accountable for another muslims actions? It just doesn't make sense to me.

flipnflap

Do you think that extremists walk around their communities with t-shirts on which read TERRORIST?

For goodness sake - terrorists aren't likely to draw attention to themselves are they?
well, that's like saying you should prosecute the parents of any criminal for 'failing to educate' their child. People should be held responsible for their own actions.
So all catholic schools should be closed because some children grew up to be IRA members? Sounds a bit irrational to me.

I have no doubt that there are extremely evil people who purport to believe in Islam and who preach murder and conflict. However, they are not Muslims they are just fanatical zealots. So to punish genuine muslims would be entirely wrong.
