Just wanted the oppinion of others really - what do you all think about the idea of taking pet cats abroad? Is it cruel to fly them and put them through a complete change of lifestlye? Or is it nicer for them to umtimately stay with the people they are used to living with rather than settling into a new family in a different house?

I have mixed thoughts on this. I have always had dogs and cats so have thought about the dillema.
Cats are very adaptable to living with new people in new environments. Thousands are successfully rehomed every year and go onto to live a happy life.
So does that mean that they would also settle in a completely new climate with their present owners.?
I dunno..
I think what would put me off is the thought of my pet living in quarantine for a long time..if they still do that.?
And, depending where I was going to, how vulnerable would my cat be to new creatures in a new environment.
