I really am speechless. I saw the story on TV and all I can say is what a poor bunch of peasants the family are. Who wears a cropped top and leggins to crown court??

My own praise to any of the family members is the relation (unknown) who found the video tape and handed it to social services.

It is a real shame they did not go to gaol though. My understanding is that even amongst the criminal classes, incidents involving child cruelty are not looked upon nicely. And rightfully so.

Lets hope the children are taken in to care and given a loving and safe home. Whilst at the same time the evil family home is firebombed causing life long weeping facial scars to the four sl4gs.

they shouldve been locked away for that. To do that to any child is horrific but to subject your own child to such things can never be forgiven.
I hope the children are now with a family who will look after them from now on.

I remember this when it was first brought to the attention of the public a few months back, why the hell didn't they get jail sentances??
For crying out loud they were actively encouraging their kids to fight another and giving them weapons to help them! How can they kiss them at night, give them hugs after goading another child to hurt their own! then calling them names when they said they didn't want to fight!

Are they being allowed to keep their children?

I just watched the video to the left of the article. The policeman says the kids are with the father and whether the mums will get access will be a case for the family courts.

This is an appalling story, but probably goes on all the time. There are some hard estates where this would be seen as preparation for growing up. Shocking. It is not as if we are talking about young inadequate girls ill prepared for parenthood, one was 48 and definately should have known better! One of the women said: "I didn't see any harm in toughening them up - I done the same with my own children" so she was obviously unrepentant.

We are not de-evolving into some sort of sub human scum, but some people belong to an underclass which is poorly educated and poorly motivated, that they think such cruel behaviour is normal.

Horrific and barbaric as this is, in order to answer the question, I don't think we're "de-evolving" in any way.

It pains me to say it, but there's always been this kind of thing going on [and there's likely countless examples from the centuries of poor communication which were just gotten away with (despite in some times being just as frowned upon as they are now)].

I agree that the question of why these people weren't more severely punished is an excellent one (though it must be considered that community service is hardly a walk in the park) but don't let that paint a picture of some kind of moral decline - it's depressing to say, but unfortunately, there's always been sickos getting away with things, and there probably will continue to be for a long, long, time.

I have never heard of anything like this before and neither had social services.
I understand that it was their dad that found the tape and handed it in. Good for him. He came home from Iraq and this is what thier mother is doing. I can only hope to God that they are never put in her charge again.
As for the justice system I expect nothing else from them.

Well I'm harping on yet again about the idea of relocation to a remote Hebredean island for individuals who display such an advanced state of "de-evolving" into sub human scum. The alternative is those who are not de-evolving becoming increasingly in the minority.

It's really disgusted me, it's made me seriously think that some people should be sterilised.
