Will Shilpa now apologise for her people's behaviour?

Is there a sane person anywhere who would argue that a dim-wit's string of unpleasant remarks, which are borderline bullying and borderline racist, are worse than death threats? While Jade Goody is now being treated as a criminal and practically disowned by British society despite apologising profusely, shouldn't the Asian community now be brought to book for its infinitely greater crime of burning effigies and making death threats to Jade, Jackiey, Jo and Danielle - outrageously disproportionate reactions? What kind of example has THAT been to young people? Imagine if a British Caucasian had made a death threat to Shilpa Shetty - it'd spark WW3. And if you want serious racism, it doesn't get any worse than the Indian caste system. So don't you think we should now have Shilpa Shetty, if not the Indian government, forced to make grovelling apologies themselves?

HI Craig,
I totally agree with your comments. Forme the Asian's burning effigies is totally damn right offensive and wrong.
They should apologise to us
Whilst there have been demonstrations in India aginst Big Brother, there seems to have been only one involving the burning of effigies and that was a group 25. That's right, 25, not hundreds which may be the impression given by the UK media.

The Asian community has not been calling for the death of anyone in Big Brother. If there have been death threats made by some nutter, how can you prove who made them?

As for Shilpa or the Indian government making "grovelling apologies," Shilpa was the victim, not the cause of the abuse and would you expect a UK government spokesman to apologise for Jade Goody's foul-mouthed abuse?

The Caste system in India is based upon social class and occupation, not race but why should I expect you to check on the facts before making sweeping statements.
There were plenty of death threats made by Muslims in the C4 program on Monday called Dispatches.

Muslim leaders, inside Mosques in the UK, called for the death of homosexuals, jews and indians.

The said children and women should be hit if they did not obey their men and wear the all-over clothing.

They said that a woman, even if she gained a PHD, was only worth half a man. It took two women to make up a man.

The praised the suicide bombers, they wanted the breakdown of British democracy, they want Muslim police in the UK to chop the hands off criminals.

These nutters were saying these things IN ENGLAND, in front of men and children.

Have we heard any MPs complaining about this, or the polce arrestng anybody, or questions in the house.

No, all we have heard all week is about a few people who decided to lock themselves in a house together and been insulting each other.

It is these Muslim leaders we should be worried about, these are Nazis in arab clothing.
All this ******** over a couple of women being catty. Proof that the world really has gone mad!
I understood that most of India don't see Big Brother so why are they all following some media hype and possibly following a rather biased slant from some reporter. I agree that they should apologise to us......seems the world can say what they like about the British but if the British say one word its often twisted and starts a riot as to how we must behave and what laws we should adopt to placate everybody else. I think the media in many countries are simply twisting this to generate revenue for themselves.

CORBYLOON, on the first day of this so-called 'race row', virtually every media outlet reported that Jade, Jackiey, Jo and Danielle had received death threats. The effigies which were burnt bore placards which I'm sure made extremist statements of some kind. You say that only 25 people burnt effigies - well, only 4 have been accused of being unkind to Shilpa, and what's worse: slagging someone off or burning effigies? Besides, the protestors in India hadn't even seen CBB, so were hardly acting on sound judgment. The Caste system is still a form of segregation, of treating some people better than others...not very different to racism.
what's worse: slagging someone off or burning effigies?

Ermm...slagging someone off, surely, or bullying to be more precise. I should have thought that someone in the same house as you repeatedly shouting in your face and swearing at you would have more of an effect than someone in a different continent building a model of you and setting fire to it.

Of course Shilpa shouldn't apologise. The effigy burning has nothing to do with her.

littleoldme, as John McEnroe famously said, you cannot be serious
craigiep - you have placed post after post ranting about this issue, often saying the same things over and over and seem to have an extreme dislike for shilpa. sure, she is annoying, but that is hardly a crime.

so, why?

are you racist?
I think the answer to that one is self evident, joko.
Question Author
joko and rojash, if you took the trouble to actually read my posts you'd see that I've explained extremely clearly that I don't like Shilpa because of her personality, not because she is Asian. Like so many other fools over the last few weeks, you haven't correctly analysed evidence, you've just jumped on a sad bandwagon. What you just can't see is that it is possible to dislike an Asian without being racist. That's my whole point.
yes, you say that, but like i said, merely disliking someones personality is hardly worthy of this level of vitriol

being irritating is hardly the worst personality trait a person can have.

the other 5 involved all have much worse personalities and traits, yet you fiercely support them.

ranting on that you are correct and everyone else is wrong doesn't really mean anything without evidence

get over it
Question Author
This is way beyond irritation at Shilpa's personality, and this is not about supporting the other 4 (who's the 5th you refer to?) as you'd see if you read my postings properly. This is about wanting a sense of perspective and fairness, and actually standing up against the absurd tendency to scream 'racism' and get hysterical whenever anything negative is said about an Asian - as you are simply proving with your posts here.
jack

proving nothing with these posts merely asking you why you are so bothered.

you still have not really answered.

if your argument is not about shilpa herself why keep harping on about her?
why not focus on the issue you claim to have the problem with?
craigiep ma point about the death threats is that as you do not know who sent them you cannot assert that the Asian community is involved.

You could not read the placards of the protestors but "I am sure (the placards) made extemist statements of some kind" How the hell do you know that for a fact?

"Besides, the protestors in India hadn't even seen CBB, so were hardly acting on sound judgment"

They have access to the internet and reports have been printed or broadcast in the Indian media so they have enough evidence upon which to base an opinion.

"The Caste system is still a form of segregation, of treating some people better than others...not very different to racism."

The Caste system is outlawed under the Indian Constitution

Like so many other fools over the last few weeks, you haven't correctly analysed evidence, you've just jumped on a sad bandwagon

Where is your evidence that the death threats came from Asians, where is your evidence the placards made extremist statements and where is your analysis?

Funny how someone (in this case vehelpfulguy) has to make some Mailagandalite comment about radicalised Muslims, when the issue being debated is verbal abuse of a Hindu.

Worth pointing out that there's been one terrorist incident this decade by such people...so they're either not that numerous, or they're all talk and no action.

Seems someone just has to mention fundamentalist Islam at every opportunity. Think you'll find there's also Christians in the US who are pretty much on a par. But wait....they're on our side, aren't they?
THECORBYLOON

Excellent post.

Really, really excellent.

I look forward a well reasoned response. Whilst I'm doing that, I shall be checking the weather forcasts to see when hell is due to freeze over.

Oh, what a surprise, it's sp1814 sadly limping along on that bandwagon again. Okay sp1814 and CORBYLOON, it's apparent from your postings that you are more likely to be able to be able to read those placards than me. Give me an accurate translation and, if the results are not of an extreme nature, I hereby promise to post a wholehearted apology to both of you. Ditto if you can prove the death threats did not come from the Asian community.
craigiep- I thought the term was "innocent until proven guilty"?
Okay sp1814 and CORBYLOON, it's apparent from your postings that you are more likely to be able to be able to read those placards than me.

Is it? I don't see where TCL has claimed to have been able to read the placards, while sp1814 never mentioned them at all. Anyway, can you hurry up and say "it's political correctness gone mad", please? I'm having a game of Right-wing Cliche Bingo and I only need that one for a full house. Ta.
