this is a great one-
whta , do people think of george w bush being president, seriously ???
i think the guy is hilarious- IF he was a stand up comedian, but its pretty scary when you consider he has control of one of the largest, if not the largest military superpowers !!!!!!!
one of his best quotes-

end of fahrenheit 911:

"theres an old saying in tennessee, i know its in texas probably in tennessee that says, fool me once........pause...........shame on.......pause.......shame on you.........pause...... , a fooled man cant get fooled again"

and i hasten to add when he was at that conference- cant remember where, when he walked into the cupboard which he thought was the door!
the guy is classic.

A similar question could have been asked 6 years ago when GWB stole the election. At least his party won't control the Government from January, so his power will be limited. Maybe we can all breathe a little easier at last.
I'm looking foward to a more sensible Government after New Year even if the President remains a simpleton.
It does make you wonder though how he got to where he is.

The guy probably has trouble doing his shoe laces in the morning so how on earth did he get to be President of the US?

I am totally convinced that he is simply a puppet. Someone else (Cheney, Rumsfeld, Bush senior, neo-cons whoever) is behind the scenes truly running the country while Bush junior takes the flack.
don't count on it, the puppets are all controlled by the same masters and george bush is just that, a puppet. now the other team has full control of house and senate. the baker- hamilton commission is in charge of iraq, robert gates has replaced rumsfeld, so along with negroponte, eagleberger, scowcroft, i could name others and there are many. unlike president's these guys have jobs for life, they lay low when things get hot like george tenent recently, wolfowitz now in charge of the imf, rumsfeld last week and resurface when their particular talents are required. they all worked with bush's dad when he was vice president and president and gave us iran-contra, panama just to mention a couple of winners. while the news feeds us investigations, hearings, possible indictments and other unvielings of dirty deeds. as in monica lewinski, clinton and yugoslavia. these guys behind the scenes will be dividing iraq, selling weapons to all sides, giving us death squads and general chaos with the help of the israelis and pointing the finger at iran and syria. all the while stealing the oil and every dollar they can milk out of the iraqis with so called rebuilding contracts. these guys are experts, they learned it all in central america, just ask anyone down their how their life is. they are blowing the preverbial smoke up our a$$es. sorry for sounding so optomistic.
Close to half the electorate voted for him so are half the US simpletons? Is that what you're trying to say? The tree huggers have nevr forgiven Bush for seeing through the the Kyoto cobblers, he could do nothing right after that.
I met a really intelligent woman from detriot about a year ago in the UK, I asked her if she like bush - she reassured me that the intelligent people in the US know that bush is an idiot. I replied "ok, but if he got into power by just over 50% of the votes - are you telling me 50% of Americans are stupid?" She shrugged her shoulders acceptingly! An idiot voted for by idiots
he's not an idiot, and neither are Americans. He does get tongue-tied quite frequently, but that's not a sign of stupidity. Tony Blair, after all, is a very smooth speaker - do you think that makes him smarter?

I don't agree with many of his policies, but that's another matter.
There was a report on the news last week in which a British reporter spoke to a bunch of people queuing up to vote in the midterms. The reporter asked each if the war in Iraq had been a devisive (sp?) issue in their voting decision. Each and every one said that it had been a big factor.

One woman said that after 9/11 they had to go into Iraq. The reporter politely pointed out that Saddam had absolutely nothing to do with the attacks. She then said well it's that whole area, you know, the middle east and the US had to go in and defend itself.

I don't know if I should blame her or the rubbish she's fed by the US Government and biased media.
re: jno's response,
I once read GWB has one of the lowest IQ's of any american president - don't know if this is true? Maybe you can enlighten me?
Personally i am confident TonyB is a more intelligent man the GWB.
Also, I didn't say all americans are idiots, i just resited a conversation I had. But to be honest, in my opinion, i do think that most of the people who voted for him must be idiots or mislead by the media. If you like I will give reasons why from areas such as the war, US economy, attitude to world politics, enviroment, religion and the effects he has had on the reputation of the US worldwide - just ask.
I know intelligent Americans who voted for Bush. The fact is that they are brain-washed. Many believe the ludicrous idea that you can fight terrorism by invading foreign countries and bombing innocent muslims.

A friend in Texas said, before the Iraq invasion, that he was worried for the safety of his children so that had to do it.

Like I said, they're brainwashed by their heavily controlled media and Hollywood films simplifying everything into goodies versus baddies.
You lot have been watching too much of Michael Moore and thinking its real!

I too would go for nuking them out of existence.

However it doesn't stop the Bush period in office being one of the most corrupt, self serving and globally hated administrations the US has ever seen.
re:WARD MINTER talking rubbish
I am a christian and not left wing!
Have you ever been to an arab country? I admit alot of them are not as civilised as the western world, but that is something time will sort out. Anyone who believes in people being 'fried like bacon' is definately an idiot, you sound like a western version of an islamic extremist - hence a typical bush supporter. Which is exactly why America is so dangerous, you should be the peacemakers as you are the most powerful nation in the world.
On the 9/11 front - I understand the Military response against the terrorists - but Bin Laden and Saddam Hussien hated each other, so why attack Iraq using 9/11 as a partial excuse? and then become allies with Pakistan, which is the thought by many to be the home of extreme islam.
I fear George Bush's heart is a small as his brain, and you need to start learning the facts (tip: watch BBC not ABC!)

I don't see how nuking the Middle East sorts anything out either...but I suppose minor credit to Bush for not doing so.

Let's face it, we could all treat this as a Cold War scenario and **** ourselves in fear.

Alternatively, we could just Google "Bushisms" and **** ourselves with laughter at the situation.

I think the latter's the better idea.

On the question of Americans being idiots..... I worked with a girl who was and no doubt still is a complete twit. She spent a year working on an American based cruise liner as a masseur. When asked about her exploits at sea, she had many a tale to tell and added that she found it amazing that the american people (male and female) that she had encountered were as thick as two short planks ... across the board ... exceptions none!! ....and that came from a complete thicko, possibly the thickest person I have yet to meet!
wardminter,
i think you have been brainwashed just like
those crazy yanks, who do you think put sadam
in power and provided him with his weapons,
you guessed it rumsfelt and this american cohurts.
Yeah, let's honour Bush for an award for being the biggest idiot the US has witnessed as a president in the last century. With the mid-term election over and the loss of the house of representative majority he is a lame duck.

With the exception of Clinton and Bush junior most presidents would have nuked Middle East. What planet are you from? Maybe they should send the lot of you to the planet moon for making statements like these that remotely resembles intellect. Thanks for your stimulating arguements. Da! Not!!!
Maybe you should go and REALLY visit terrorist countries like Iran clever boy.
I am only glad to see the back of this lame duck in two years. America deserves a lot better.
It's right that we can laugh at what a simplton Bush is, his speech after the Republicans were hammered in the mid-terms was nothing short of astonishing. He is so inarticulate it's untrue, but then you remember that we have Prescott and accept that profoundly stupid people can get these jobs if they have friends in the right places.
