Hello,
We have a static caravan and our caravan is over 10 years old.
We decided because the rates on the caravan site were going up so much each year and having nothing to show for it,that was promised when we moved our caravan to this site,it was time to sell.
We were told that the park owner takes 1000 from the sale of the caravan to whoever you sell it to if worth under 10,000 and 10%of the sale if the caravan is worth over 10,000.
When we went into the site office we were told we could not sell our caravan due to it's age.
We were told it could stay on the site and continue paying rates on it.
We decided if we could not sell it we would give to our friend.
We were told you cannot give it away as a gift either.
If we did it would be removed.
Can the site owner do this.
Is it legal?
Many thanks.
clare louise.

i would imagine the site would be allowed to have whatever rules they want ... whats to stop you giving it to your friends, letting them be responsible for it but just not doing it "officially"
have you got any sort of contract or written terms and conditions, that were given to you by them.

hi there,
we didn't sign any contract of any kind when we moved onto this site.

If you havent signed anything, and its your caravan, then arrange for it to be removed. When its removed, sell it.

I am confused to why these people are acting like its theirs?
Question Author
yes it is annoying.
You are right ehy are acting like it is their property and it isn't.
We would consider moving but it would cost too much to move it to another site that would be cheaper than the one we are on.
Thanks for the advice everyone so far.
