He kills a woman by battering her round the head with a hammer and was sentenced to (only) 7 years in 2001.

For some reason he was let out after only 3 years (no danger to the community?)

He is now accused of starting a fire that kills FOUR people.

Do not debate the current case as it is still ongoing.

BUT WHY ON EARTH DID HE ONLY SERVE 3 YEARS FOR BATTERING A WOMAN TO DEATH.

Surely prison is partly about keeping people like this out of the community.

If he had served his sentence he would not even have been around to be accussed of this crime.

The prisons are probably full of people who did not pay their TV license, and this guy is walking the streets.

It makes me sick.

What you must realise is that in this country there is no connection between the Law and Justice!!

Incidentally, people are not in prison for not paying their TV licences - they are there for not paying the resultant fine.
What you must also realise vguy is that they daren't send the criminals to jail for too long coz it infringes on their human rights. And by the way, victims dont have human rights because they are the victim and that appears to be automatically dismissed by the system.

That is justice in the UK today.
I read about this case as well and was totally disgusted! In my eyes this man should have been given a life sentence for murder in the first place and life should (even though it never does) mean life! I tend to agree with those who say our judicial system is incredibly flawed and pretty useless. Far too many still dangerous criminals are let out after only serving a small part of their lenient sentences and end up offending again. It is perfectly clear that when you take a hammer to a person's head that they are most likely going to be killed by this action. This has to be attempted murder (if the person lives) or in this case murder ... why manslaughter? And how can they let this animal our after such a short time ... we see the results clearly ... yet again!!! And yet at the same time we have elderly people going to jail because they cannot afford to pay their council tax? The mind boggles!!! No wonder so many people are moving abroad.
