This poor girl went missing at the age of ten and has only recently been rescued. What a tremendous relief for her family. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/528047 2.stm

What type of difficulties do you feel she will experience renewing her family ties and making new friends?

have they said 100% that its her yet? i guess it depends on what the poor girl has been put through to how shes going to recover. does not bear thinking about
Apparently it is definitely her. They are saying she may be suffering from Stockholm Syndrome which would be understandable after all that time.

It's a very similar story to one from the US years ago which a film was made about - a boy was kidnapped aged about 8 I think. He was gone for years eventually being reunited with his family at the age of about 16. He had all sorts of problems - depression, violent rages etc. Ended up with a drug problem and then tragically was killed in a motorcycle crash at the age of 26. Terrible story. I just hope this girl finds it easier to adjust back to a normal life.

One of my first thoughts was that someone would want to make a film of her experiences, annavc. Let's hope she receives excellent psychological help for as long as she requires it and her life progresses more comfortably than the young lad in your answer.

Thank you both for answering my question.
Was listening to a child psychologist this morning who said that, yes indeed a very difficult time lies ahead for this poor girl and her family! The girl will have formed a strong attachment to her captor simply because he has been the only person with whom she has had any contact, and her parents....who no doubt thought she must be dead...will find it very hard to accept all that has happened to their child and that she is now almost an adult! Apparently when she saw her father the first thing she asked for was her favourite toy, how heartbreaking! My heart goes out to all of them and I wish them well for the future!
