anyone know a site where I can purchase photographs that have been published....

I think you need to contact whoever published them.
Exactly. I'm a journalist, so call the paper in question - many of them will sell you photos they have taken - it's a lucrative income stream.
many photos in newspapers don't actually belong to them but to photo organisations or libraries (Reuters or Getty Images, for instance), so the papers pay them for one-off use. Papers should print the name of the photographer or person who holds the copyright. If it's not a big agency you recognise, call the newspaper yourself and ask where they got it from, as Tock and janeo say.
anything taken buy our photographers is up for sale, but as the other say, we do buy photos's in, so you need to contact the paper
