Whenever I think about the nineties it is with a sort of pink glow. It was so full of promise! Am I being delusional? Or just sick of Iraq, terrorism and lying politicians?

Iraq happened in the 90s too, terrorism was still about (IRA?) and lying politicians will ALWAYS be about.

I just think it's the media coverage nowadays that's the problem. Scum of the earth in my opinion. Even the BBC are stooping to sensationalist journalism.

At least we had some good music in the 90s.
I think it is a sign of you getting older I am afraid.

All those things happened in the 90s, and 80s, and 70s, and 60s.

Think of the IRA bombings, the Tory MPs who lied (Archer etc), Falklands war etc.

When you are young you do not know or care about them, as you get older you get a wider view of the world and begin to realise most of it is awful.

We are also bombarded by news nowadays (TV, radio, newspapers, internet) most of it is bad news and most of it is of no interest to us.

There was a period in the mid to late nineties when everything seemed positive. Stop me if you've heard this before, but music, film, fashion, art...it all seemed so much...better.

Perhaps it's rose tinted glasses...I vaguely recall having the same sentiments about the 80s when it was the mid nineties.

VHG is right though...I think as you get older, you pay attention to, and analyze world events a lot more than when you're young. I don't have kids, but I assume that this must also impact on the way you view the world, and the future.
