Are the Iraqis really pleased to be invaded by the US or was this staged for TV, as suggested in http://www.iraqwar.ru/iraq-read_article.php?articl

Although I dont claim to have the definitive answer to this in my opinion these were spontaneous celebrations but not on the scale suggested on tv. I think that most iragis are pleased to be rid of saddam but are more pleased that the fighting might be over and that aid might reach them. On question time the other night someone pointed out that there were hundreds on the streets but millions in the city of baghdad, where were they? Probably hiding or trying to get on with their lives.
One thing's for sure i wouldn't be waving my sandal at a statue until i knew for definite that Mr Hussein's head was definitely detached from his body and being paraded around Baghdad on a spike. Conspiracy 2 reality 0 - David, what's your opinion?
Equally, if lots of heavily armed and aroured soldiers invaded my country, I might be tempted to show them how happy I was... for as long as their guns were loaded.
I think you just need to look back at the scenes when the last gulf conflict was on. We had thousands of people in bagdad waving pictures of saddam shooting guns in the air etc. I think the average man in the street can see the sense in supporting the wining side. If you need more info ask your average 90's Man Utd fan nee 80's Liverpool fan.
I bet most Iraqis are also Man U fans as well or is Iraq too close to Old Trafford for them to qualify as diehard Man U fans!
