Title/author of childrens adventure book..wrong end of the telescope

I tried to use book sleuth but I'm new to it and not sure how to use it! But basically looking for the title and author of a childrens book I read about 10 years ago, but the book may have been older; about a girl who looked into the wrong end of a telescope and got transported into a different world. She made friends with some people from the world. I think it was a man who thought he was a super hero and a man waering an orange fur coat! There was one part of the world where she had to solve riddles to get out of this place a man had trapped them. Theres loads more details I remember but I don't want to make this too long. If anyone could help I would much appreciate it!
