Is it me, or is the story that rollerblades for police in royal parks being scrapped (because the criminals simply run onto grass or any soft surface) the funniest story so far this year?

I saw this on the local news yesterday. It must be April Fool's Day come early.
I did laugh at that. How long have they been wearing rollerblades? has this only just occured to them? I would have loved to have witnessed the incident where this became apparent.....
Is there a link to this story SP

Sorry - been looking around for the past half hour trying to find the story online. It was on London Tonight last night and I think it's either in the Express or Mail today.

The police chief in charge of the original initiative is called Derek Pollock.

Sorry Hammond - was still writing my post when you wrote yours.

Fantastic!!! Completely ridiculous but what the hey? makes a change from all the doom and gloom we read and hear about!! Are you sure though, that we haven't slipped forward to April 1st?

Perhaps Mr Pollock was fishing for compliments?

It may seem funny when you read it in the papers, but believe me, when you see the news report on television...it's like something out of a tv sketch show.

God bless low level stupidity. Keeps us all sane.

Hilarious.
Now they have switched back to basics and started using bicycles again to catch those pesky criminals.

Like Starrs,I thought 1 April had come sooner!!!

Just to show that it is not only senior police officers who can be stupid:

About 20 years ago I was a police oficer and went to a report of burglary (well I did say it was 20 years ago). The offender had stolen a computer and in return had left a good footprint. To help him remove the computer, he had wedged open the door with the registration document for his car. I went to the house, asked to see the soles of his shoes and arrested him. They don't even get them like that on The Bill.

Schaefer wants to send about 24 communicators into action at the five games which take place in Frankfurt, which include the first round matches England v Paraguay and Netherlands v Argentina. In an interview with Reuters, he said that there would be special attention given to English fans but that communicators trying to ease tension would speak to them in German. Many of them will understand German, right? he said, apparently unaware that foreign language skills of the majority of Englands huge travelling support amounts to speaking English slowly and loudly.
Kraut police not much better !!!
