Minotaur - The 'mino' part being because it was the reign of King Minos of Crete and the 'taur' part being Greek for bull (as in Taurus in the zodiac)

The Minotaur was also half man, half bull.

theseus and the minotaur is the name of the story.

There are a lot of myths and legends attached to the Minoan culture. First of all, they did not call themselves Minoans. The half man/ half bull idea may come from the practice of 'bull leaping' seen in Minoan art. The labyrinth may be based on the palace at Knossos with hundreds of rooms linked by narrow corridors. The story of Theseus may represent the growing dominance of the Greeks in the Mediterranean. Look into it, it's fascinating.
Didn't the Cyclops inhabit the labyrinth?
no gammaray. the cyclops (the one who Odysseus fought was called Polyphemus) lived in a cave on an island whose name escapes me at the moment. Labyrinth was definitly the realm of the Minotaur
