did you see my interview last night on Channel 4 with Sophie Morgan about Lancashire Heelers?  She was amused that my little dog's name is Frosty Knickers.  Great publicity for our vulnerable native breed.

I didn't but I have been.

was disappointed that they don't show all the breeds groups just too many I suppose. My mate got 3 in the bulldogs

I'm sorry I missed that Lankeela. I am watching a lot of it when I can but do get more than irritated as every time I switch it on it's agility and flyball all the time. I like to see the actual breed and group classes.

All the show people agree with you, but sadly as with most tv these days it is aimed at a generic following of dogs rather than the very small minority who are actually into showing.  The difference between seeing the exciting dog sports like agility and flyball and one person walking round looking at a ring full of dogs just standing still is huge - you can't really blame them for not wanting to film all the show classes.  Also with over 30 rings all going on at once it would be an impossible task to film it all.  One of our local exhibitors from Yamouth won the Working Group with the Leonberger so will be interesting to watch the Best in Show final tonight.

Have you got a link to your bit Lankeela please?

I know lankeela, I would have loved to watch the Labradors showing.

Wow I saw you last night! I obviously didn't know you were on AB ! Frosty knickers is a lovely little dog and the info on the breed was very interesting.

I'd love to see more of the actual judging .....we only get tiny snippets amongst all the agility groups and even those are on at very dodgy times 😠

Its on Channel 4 catch up at 1.21.12 - my other one Rio who is mum to Frosty Knickers is the one being shown, and she also features fleetingly in the programme's opening credits.

I found it...your dog looks a sweetie. For some reason I thought they were a larger breed. As you say, good publicity for a vulnerable breed. I didn't realise that greyhounds also seem to be on the list.

I've been looking for you most of the day but no luck yet.  Must have seen every single person and mutt, except you and yours:-(. 😱

Like Ladybirder.  Would love to have seen your dogs.

Question Author

Although there are many thousands of Greyhounds that are racing bred there are very few show bred ones, which are quite different.  However it is possible to show the racers if you register them with the Kennel Club as well as with the racing authorities, although they will never do as well because they don't meet the breed standard of the show dogs, which have a much more exaggerated outline - we do have special classes for them at some of our shows though and encourage the owners to get them dual registered to give them another string to their bow.  Even Crufts has special racing/lure coursing classes for those that qualify.

Here's the clip...if it's at the start,  fast forward to about 1:21:10
