it's tricky, but possible i suppose.  What happened in ireland to achieve it?

Sandy.  I'd love to give you my thoughts but  I'm avoiding some brainless  nasties in the news section who label people !

This may seem a bit obvious but perhaps the islamic groups can stop attacking Israel and maybe re address their "wipe Israel off the map" policy.

What's happening in the Middle East cannot be compared to Ireland because for Islam there is no compromise.  There will never be peace.

Bednobs,

The Republicans belatedly came to see they would never achieve what they wanted by violence.  They decided to follow the political path.

Countrylover,

Yes, some hold a reductive view of what's going on there.  Judging by their views you might think it was all sweetness and light before October.

Naomi,

So the Israelis are condemned to strut the stage like Spartans overseeing and sometimes chastising a surly and disgruntled population of Helots.

If I were an Israeli I'd look to leave for a peaceful land.

An Israeli commentator on Channel 4 news last night was saying now maybe was the time to "think the unthinkable" : ie a one nation solution of Arabs and Jews in a democratic state (as bit like a larger and more balanced Israel), although he admitted that it may yet be an idea ahead of its time.

You feel that now is the time to try.

Or will be soon.

I don't think it helps to see this merely in terms of religion and religious dogma. Antisemitism and Islamophobia sadly go hand in hand. This is primarily a conflict of territory not religion. Sort out the territory and I think you are a long way down the road. That may be pie in the sky but it's more doable than trying religious reconciliation.

Sadly you have people all over the world spouting nonsense about whatever religion it is they don't like, probably one reason why this is so univerally divisive.

sandyRoe.  //So the Israelis are condemned to strut the stage like Spartans overseeing and sometimes chastising a surly and disgruntled population of Helots.//

They're your words.  I wouldn't have put it like that.

//If I were an Israeli I'd look to leave for a peaceful land.//

That could be because you're not.

No use asking me sandy. As an anti-Nazi and a anti-terrorist i seem to get my answers removed.

Ynna,

Give it a try.  The mod on duty may be dozing at his/her post.

Ich, //This is primarily a conflict of territory not religion. //

Religion is fundamental here.  It cannot and should not be ignored.

ynna; it's the way you tell it! :-)

sandyRoe, //The mod on duty may be dozing at his/her post.//

Mods don't work to a rota.  All may be present at any one time - or none.

I tell it as it is,Atheist. But as ive said before-all ABers are equal, however some ABers are more equal than others.

Question Author

Yes, but any thoughts on how they might find their way to the path towards peace?

Yes,by finally smashing the terrorist groupings still holding them back from finding this peace.

Question Author

Naomi,

I wonder how many Israelis hold two passports?

//If I were an Israeli I'd look to leave for a peaceful land.//

That could be because you're not.

sandyRoe, your first line - no idea.

The rest - no idea why you've repeated that.

Question Author

To give a context to my question.
