Not yet confirmed by No 10, but if this is true then that's a massive shock.

It's high time that Tories, like me, admitted that this is the biggest political *up in generations. No more excuses, no more having a go at Labour.

awwww, jim, that's just "loving chastisement"
They would be worse, Fatticus, because the Labour party has even fewer MPs that wish to accept the democratic will of the people, so there would be less internal opposition to deliberately doing the wrong thing. When they start proving that they stand for democracy once more then they can be compared to parties that mostly do.
oh I thought it was
Imagine the mess we'd be in if we had the brightest and best leading us, instead of this load of no-hopers !

you know one of those twisty foo-foo fings that end in something surprising - ( para pros dokian) - you get them a lot on AB
Who’s doing the manhandling?

PMSL, 0.2% aka the Werthers Warriors do not reflect the democratic will of the people.
It’s time for a GE to do that properly, we simply cannot have a second PM with no mandate from the British public running this country into the ground.
We are a laughing stock throughout the world and this government have zero credibility and zero authority, least of all from the electorate.
Even their own MP’s know it, that’s why they’re so fractured.
They have no idea what they’re doing and it’s plain for all to see, across the political spectrum.

Why not watch the reports……or make an uneducated guess?
I say that because you generally don’t acknowledge real events.

One report suggested the Deputy PM was doing the manhandling; Therese Coffey? To be fair she looks like a rugby union prop.

You mean Mr Doubtfire?

That’s plausible.
I’ll ask again. Who’s doing the manhandling?
Tory MP’s. They’ve been very ‘handsy’ of late.
Who’s doing the manhandling?
whips usually
that is why so few come to be Prime Ministers
(edward heath did)

these two declined presumably refused to twist arms to order
(bit uncharacteristic for whips, who usually know what the long-term future for whips is)
Tweet from David Linden MP:

/Just watched the Deputy Prime Minister practically pick up a hesitant Tory MP and march him into the Government lobby. Astonishing./
Question Author
Specific allegations were made against Therese Coffey, Jacob Rees-Mogg, and others. There will presumably be an investigation, and as far as I know both have already denied it (either themselves, live on air, or through a spokesperson). It's safe to say that tonight was chaotic, regardless of whether any behaviour crossed the line; and, as I say, at the very least it seems that the Chief and Deputy Chief Whip, ie those whose job it is to get the Tories voting with the Government, both resigned.
Are you a volunteer or retained firefighter, naomi?

I doubt you'll cope with this on your own, ring the station.
‘Manhandling’ is an extraordinary allegation, Jim. It will be interesting to see if it sticks.
well without whips presumably the vote tonight will be - - -
fragmented

for those on this thread who are pretending they dont know what a whip is ( yawn ) see here
https://w4mp.org/w4mp/w4mp-guides/whos-who/whips-and-their-work/

warning - it is a bit naughty for the upright citizens of AB
taster for the adventurous ones

"‘For the average backbencher, the whip is the street-corner thug they need to get past on their way home from school. "

Q:who is doing the man-handling - A;the usual suspects I suppose. - we arent saying that because no one was knows the names of the guilty parties then it can be happening
whips are called whips for a reason you know, and not the kissy-kissy team.
( altho I agree Qasr Evin in Tehran ( slammer silly!) is called the Palace of Laughter - it is where the torture goes on. Damn didnt say Qasr means palace)
unusual but not particularly outrageous, I would have thought? Bryant says he saw a Tory MP "physically pulled" into the voting lobby. He either saw it or he didn't, but I wouldn't be in any rush to call him a liar.
