These companies are making a fortune during the energy crisis, however if there was ever a time that the energy companies were in serious financial trouble, could they ask for a bailout from the British Government because they are too big to fail just like RBS did. In other words they can have their cake and eat it and whatever their position , they are winners?

I keep being told that they are the suppliers and they put up prices because of wholesale price increases by the producers. The CEOs still seem to earn millions though and get bonuses.
they would ask for it in a heartbeat
Well when petrol dropped during the Covid nonsense they didnt get anything.

Bailouts occur if the Government considers the failure of said company would be detrimental or adversely affect the nation, as Brown did. So it's impossible to answer your question as it depends on circumstances at the time.
