Am i reading the 'Goalkeeper positioning' rule correctly? I read it as a 'keeper can stand forward of the line but step back into his goal (i.e. back behind the line) to attempt the save?

I think the goalie has to start on the line or behind it but can step back then spring forwards once the ball is kicked

See what you mean, Bobb. Makes more sense than the way i misread it:-)
The new Law states, "When the ball is kicked, the defending goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot touching, or in line with, or behind, the goal line."
The "or" has been deleted from the new Law.
As in "When the ball is kicked, the defending goalkeeper must have at least part of one foot touching, in line with, or behind, the goal line."
