The 'bomb' didn't actually go off -it was the detonator that went off, but the bomb did not explode. The detonator exploding started a fire in the car. I believe the driver escaped and locked the passenger door with his keys.
Let’s not speculate at this stage. All will come out in the wash if we’re patient.
This is a longer clip of thr rxplosion. At the beginning, we see the guy in the yellow hi-viz jacket tending to the rear wheel of his red car.
Then he goes to attend to the stunned taxi driver. After which, he runs back to his car and calmly continues to mess with the rear of his vehicle.

Hoist with his own petard.

Thank goodness it seems to have all gone horribly wrong.

Well done to all those people who tried to help in some way.

APG //I believe the driver escaped and locked the passenger door with his keys.///
The car had already exploded while the driver was in it so why would he lock the door?
Plus, the drivers door was wide open.
I wonder if anybody bothered calling the fire brigade?
Question Author
LB I'm sure someone will have done.
The man with the fire extinguisher was very brave too.
Yes the chap wasted his time as it didn't seem to have any effect at all.
barsel// The car had already exploded while the driver was in it so why would he lock the door?//

best ask him that one. BTW the car did not explode -it caught on fire.
let's speculate on how many dinghy arrivals have the same mindset and intention as the would be bomber.

Good grief.............
APG, yes - can't improve on your response.
The taxi driver is twice blessed, his wheels won't be nicked with all the police about the place.

Definitely one of the better outcomes, bomber-wise though. Minimal damage and no need to tie up a prison cell.
APG \\best ask him that one. BTW the car did not explode -it caught on fire.//

It certainly looked like it went bang

The two clips say. bomb blast and bomb explosion, not fire.
There was an explosion in the car which then burned merrily.

Seems to be true, what experts say about eye witnesses.
I sincerely hope the bomber wasn't knocked out by the explosion.

You can quite clearly see an explosion before the driver got out.
Did you look at the second video clip that Ken put on APG?
It's very detailed in what happened from when the taxi first came into sight.

How can we be vigilant when we hear about this?
Who would have known he would do this?

Almeni converted to Christianity in Liverpool's Anglican Cathedral in 2017, the same place he asked Mr Perry to initially drive him to, which it is suspected was his initial target. But traffic and road closures meant that he could not get to the cathedral where 1,200 military personnel, veterans and families of the fallen had gathered.

In 2017, Almeni spent eight months living with devoted Christians Malcolm and Elizabeth Hitchott at their home in the Aigburth district of Liverpool.
