Has The ‘Secrecy’ That Used To Surround The Masons Disappeared ?

My brother in law talks openly about going to the ‘lodge’ for meetings although I’m not privy to what the meetings entail, I can remember years ago being a Mason wasn’t widely discussed, or might that be regional?
Just curious, that’s all , if they were secret,why?

Lol, or Goatsha****s as I loveingly call it.

My ex openly threatened me with hell and damnation from his secretive mason mates and what they would do to me. I told him to do one with him and his secret bloody society.

There's no real secrecy other than their rituals. Nowadays, the FMs are much more open. And they do do a lot of work for charity.

He didnt scare me - but it was wrong that he should use a brotherhood organisation as a source of threat.

I know quite a bit about their rituals and history etc, and it certainly aint the Illuminati.

If you are in London you can go in Freemasons Hall. It's really interesting and it doesn't cost anything to go around. We were lucky and caught a guided tour just as we sauntered over there but I don`t think they do that now.

I know by conversations around him and my sister in law about money for the ‘widows’ etc etc

That'll be the Almoner of the Lodge and help for widows. There are are also separate FM charities.

He'll be the Master. He is Master for a year. Then he'll be Recent Past Master.

Basically, you get to be master by doing so many years (not by merit or anything). You just automatically go up thru the ranks by time served. Different lodges have different titles of the degrees, but I think roughly it takes 7 years to be the Master of a Lodge. A lot of people used to think that it was a sign of social standing. It isnt. It's largely bs.

It’s very ‘Merlin’ like BM
