When reading erotic fiction, the experienced sexual partner will sometimes ask the newbie some variation of "Who taught you that/Where did you learn that". Is this a rhetorical question since the vet is not necessarily expecting an answer from the newbie and is simply suprised at the newbie's natural talent? Thanks.

A rhetorical question usually does not expect an answer. Your Vet might well be hoping for an honest response, to excite him/herself with his/her detailed answer.
