Why do some (in this case Digby Jones) think that they have the right to criticise others, but not face criticism themselves?

He complains about Alex Scott’s pronunciation and when he gets negative feedback he complains of being ‘cancelled’.

What does ‘cancel’ mean in this context?

Has he simply picked up on a buzzword?

Anyway why is she being referred to as bame .

She looks like black/white to me
Served in a laboubad r Government, so one of your SP. Perhaps you should write and ask him?

As far as I am concerned he is correct, there is no need for bad pronunciation and it has nothing to do with working class or regional dialect.

Still, as I dont pay the licence fee I dont really care.
Are Black people not Bame, Bazile?
Yes
But is she not a mixture of black and white ?
Positive feedback = gammon pile in?
_____________
Is that racism going to stay?
And Digby came from Gwain! Didn't he, Mamy?
Cancelled means somebody who vehemently disagrees with me chooses not to let me spout my "views" ("nonsense", in their view) on a platform they own. Applies equally to left and right, with loads of obvious examples. A very tenuous relationship with free speech, as usually there are many other venues in which the views can be spouted.
Atheist, unsure why that's directed at me.
Youm the Oracle, mamya.

I’ve not voted Labour for years.

Also, “one of yours” - a bit reductive?

Do you think Digby Jones has been cancelled?

If so - how?
It's a racist comment.

Why people are ignoring it is beyond me.
Where does what I wrote differ from what you linked to, sp?
Question Author
royfromaus

No it is not. It’s a description of a certain type of person. It’s no more racist than ‘redneck’.

Hence your chip.

If you think gammon is racist, I urge you to report the comment to the Ed and in the meantime can you explain whether you agree that Jones is being cancelled?
