Has anyone else noticed the similarities between the recent shooting of an innocent airline passenger in the US and the shooting of an innocent underground passenger in the UK? Or what is just their skin colour?

And if they had been suicide bombers we would be asking "where were the police/sky marshals?

come on, for heavens sake lets not get excited about two lost lives, yes its a tragedy but, ultimately their deaths serve as a warning to other terrorists, and that warning is thus "you will fail in your mission to kill inocent people, you will die alone"

Firstly they were both innocent travellers shot dead by the authorities who justified the killing by saying they were carrying a bomb. The eyewitness reports are so far very different from the official one. Both victims were young males from Latin America.

If someone in a crowded public area is carrying a package and shouts that they have a bomb how long do you wait to see if it's true ? Come on someone, give me a time span then state that you would enshrine it into policy, if you had the power.

No my point is that both victims looked the same and neither had malicious intent. Of course there will always be human error, but just wondering if they had been white they would still be alive.

remember that shoe bomber lunatic from a couple of years ago? he was English, covert to Islam but he looked European, lucky for him he was subdued by the other passengers, I do not doubt that if marshals had been on board he would not be alive today

Im a realist mate, i've seen more deaths in my lifetime than most people. perhaps being at the "sharp end" for over 20 years has made me see things in a diffrent way, if your interested I spent over 11 years as an Army Medic, so (in my oppinion) my humanity is and compassion is 100% and I've lost count of the number of ladies ive charmed thank you

As I understand it, and please correct me if i'm wrong. the victim in England was just going about his business and was not a potential threat to anyone. The chap in America, unhinged as he might have been, was running up the plane gangway shouting he had a bomb, in that scenario, can you take a chance?.

The only connection was that neither had a bomb.

No that was the official story, eyewitnesses have contradicted the official explanation, ie no one heard the victim mention a bomb. Does that sound familiar?

If someone in the aftermath of a terrorist attack had shouted to me on several occasions 'Stop Police' damn tooting I would have.I am a compassionate person towards the innocent victims but we cant afford to take chances anymore - C'est la vie !!

The Police in major incidentents are damned if they do and damned if they dont.In the immediate aftermath of their 'faux pas' we were all delighted and I personally was of the opinion that the intelligence were on the ball.Mark my words there is more to this than meets the eye!

In the end, what these two shootings, (right or wrong) show, is that in the aftermath of 9/11, and 7/7, the authorities in both countries are a tad jumpy, and errors are going to be made, but I wouldn't go along the skin colour line, at present, the main terrorists are likely to be of middle eastern or asian appearance, but it doesn't hold that they will be.

You know I don't really understand all this terrorism rubbish, how many people have actually died in terror attacks recently and I mean in the last 10 years ?? In the USA alone every year around 45,000 people die in road accidents not counting the injuries sustained. Funny how no-one makes a big thing about that.

There's a significant difference between these two cases Menendez had not been acting suspiciously, his only fault was living in the wrong block of flats. His case was a major screw up and the police are closing ranks and giving out misleading information.

In the sky marshal case you seem to have a case of a mentally disturbed person claiming to have a bomb and running.

The Marshalls did not calmly sit on a bus with their suspect before hand and did not make claims about ficticious bulky jackets or jumping over ticket barriers.

If you want a better comparison I'd suggest the "table leg" shooting in 1999

Stu in USA. What colour would you like the shot men to be? The Sky Marshalls were protecting the lives of innocent people of all races. The people to blame for both killings are the people who have created the climate of fear and mistrust that we all now have to live in.(The terrorists) NOT the Police and NOT the Sky Marshalls. You seem to have a chip on your shoulder,try putting the blame where it lies
