We are blessed with an abundance of flying wildlife in our adjacent woodlands, including a few Herons.

Here is one that a neighbour snapped on her roof this morning...

They are often in my garden on the garage roof eyeing up the neighbour's pond. We have a huge heronry not far and it's great to see them on the nest.
Lovely photo. Used to see them in Kent but not here.
One of our neighbours has a pond and we used to see a heron there regularly.
very good - do they hang out around Welsh Harp?

Nothing here but fat pigeons and magpies.

Yes, jno, they nest in the reedy bits by the Welsh Harp shallows.

We’ve also got a bird sanctuary in the Welsh Harp park, so often get woken by woodpeckers.

And the sound of 20 Brent geese flying low in formation is a wondrous noise!
one of my Covid exercise walks, back in sunny Spring, was round Welsh Harp. A pretty place and lots of birds, though I didn't see herons.
We get quite a lot of herons around here. You walk close to them by the Thames and they don't bat an eyelid.
