Top of the list are the most vulnerable, mostly the elderly who are, in the main, isolating, but if as is reported the young are responsible for spreading the virus shouldn’t we be vaccinating them first, thereby safeguarding everyone else as well as allowing workers to get back to normal and hence, limiting the damage to the economy?

// So you vaccinate first those most at risk from catching it.// Which are those people who have to work 'out there' -not 90 year olds in basic lockdown.

NJ, I don't believe "mutually agreeable" appointments would work with NHS and the number of patients they have. Particularly in this case, with millions. People don't respond, or faff about. It's better to give an appointment, and let those who genuinely can't make it, rearrange for themselves.
NJ, you asked, "Perhaps you could explain to me how it is sensible to simply tell someone that a slot has been booked for them at a time and place (and presumably keeping that slot free so that nobody else can take it up) without ensuring they have the message, let alone whether they can keep the appointment."

You said you wouldn't contact them unless the appointment were not convenient. Why then do you expect folk to confirm they received the letter for the jag?

How much time and resources would be spent trying to get hold of folk on the 'phone to arrange a convenient appointment?

How much time and resources would be spent logging the confirmation of an appointment letter bring received?

For once a can see new judges point on this if there is a problem with missed NHS appointments certainly for this vaccinne. The only way a could see this working to give more choice is to use an online booking system where they give you say a 1 week time slot and you choose a time off a list, first come first serv'd. Maybe worth trialling?? The problem tho is maybe the cold storage so for surgeries it has to be a specific day. But am not sure why it's big issue really judge, it's hard to see what can be more urgent in your diary than a potentialy life saving vax
