Thatcher Continues To Divide.
Disgraceful that this sum of money should be spent on unveiling her statue in the midst of a pandemic and economic crisis.

Wasn't easy when you haven't been married long and a couple of babies and a mortgage, I'll never forget it or Thatcher for the grief that she caused me ( but hey ho everything was fine South of Watford Gap or if you were a civil servant wasn't it ).
diddlydo @070.09:
/We celebrated when she was kicked out not when she died - I would have thought that was obvious./
Some parts of the country did celebrate her death. I wanted to find out where the nearest one to me was, so I could go and join them.
She destroyed the industrial base of this country much to the benefit of her husbands cronies, who sold off valuable parts of various industries which resulted in hardship and unemployment for millions of people.
I am of the opinion that if you thought the Tyranical Traitor Thatcher was great for this country, then you must have gained financially from her political methods, or been totally unaffected by her policies. Good riddance was appropriate for me when she died.
If the people of Grantham want to have a statue of their most notorious native, I suggest the above applies to them as well. Some areas of this country went into decline because of her and have never recovered.
Apart from that, everything's ok with me thanks!

I despise those who joined in the celebration of Thatcher's death, no matter how odious Thatcherism is. Celebrating the death of a frail old lady, who'd been destroyed by Alzheimers was nothing short of disgusting. I very much doubt that by the time of her death she could remember the acts for which others hated her for.
The statue is still a terrible idea.
