No, I'm suggesting that they never took place! You, on the other hand, are suggesting that the Met police inspector is lying. Do you have any evidence of that? Here would be some evidence:

* Camera evidence - oh no, cameras were switched off
* Charges being pressed - oh no, no further action was taken once the stopped driver revealed he was a Met police inspector
* Testimony of the traffic police - possibly, but it directly contradicts the testimony of the police inspector. So who do you believe? Given the above two bullets, I know who I believe: the guy who is making an issue of it.

How many white drivers get stopped for no apparent reason?

I've been stopped once (white female) which was cleared up in seconds.

From the article:

"The two officers left the scene after Ehikioya told them he was a serving colleague and showed them his police badge."

It's not clear whether the charges disappeared because they knew he had done nothing wrong, or because they realised they had no evidence or because they thought it may not help their careers to pursue it once they knew his rank, or a combination of these.

What do you think this story is about? As well as the many others, like the recent Dawn Butler one.

There is plenty of evidence that black people are treated differently to white people, plenty of stats to demonstrate it, if you care to take a look. That's why prominent black people complain when they're stopped, because they know they're being treated differently. Unknown people don't bother since they know from experience it will get them nowhere.

If you are part of a group that from the records seem more likely to be 'up to something' then you must know you are likely to be checked more often than other groups. That's just common sense, not unjustified discrimination. And this story is about some folk pulling the race discrimination card out every time they are in a situation in order to get off. It may even be about pulling rank too. Using it as if it were some kind of example of institution racism needs proof of the claim, and none has been offered.
