is this a good idea,when people are dying daily round britain of all colours and creeds.
to me it's wrong when so many have lost family friends etc, and it's ongoing, labour trying to score points already, and say it's government inaction, thye don't care about ethnics.

It has been reported in the press that the virus is affecting BAME people in a disproportionate way. Had the government appointed someone to probe into why this is so, would you have mentioned point scoring? Or do you not think it worth looking into why BAME communities are affected at such a disproportionate rate?

Why bother to commission an investigation when Baroness Lawrence appears to have reached her conclusions already?
At a time when everyone - Labour included - should be supporting the government I don't believe this is helpful - or intended to be.

Seems a bit odd to be holding an enquiry themselves as the article says : "The government has also commissioned an investigation into the issue." But it may satisfy their supporters and those who don't believe anything Tories and their puppet scientists say, so if they are paying for it that's not a problem. They have a nurse on there and will I'm sure consult the scientists, but it's really up to them. It'll be interesting to see where it leads

Sharon- ask again in 4 weeks time. Not as many people travel to Sudan for example as go from China to Italy, US etc, so it hasn't taken off but I think there must be real risks of an explosion in major cities in India. It could spread in Africa too especially where there is little medical support, although the population density is far lower than here. I think they are very vulnerable
Unfortunately, bringing up social and economic injustice turns it into a political, us against them, scenario...when it probably has nothing to do with that. More likely genetic or health issues common to those of colour. I'm sure the medical and nursing staff who've contracted it are not suffering socially or financially. But it's certainly necessary to learn why one group is more vulnerable.
