This man is an inspiration but so are the hundreds of thousands of people who have donated. Thanks to all.
Barry it IS a post office address
If I was to send him a birthday card that would mean he'd be receiving at least 100,000. He'd never get a chance to look at them all, and they'd represent quite a risk in terms of the amount of Covid-19 they may carry. Also the background purchasing, posting and delivery of all of those cards would mean quite a bit of risk of infection. So IMO the best messages and presents for him are the donations.

I'd like to know how much JustGiving is taking as a cut.
That may be so but what a gift for his daughter to hold on to when things change ( and by then I’m sure each card will be scanned for any virus) !
Ellipsis, JustGiving have said they will donate their cut to the cause so they wont be getting anything.
Thanks TS ^^^^

Ellipsis, Justgiving take 1.9%+20p of any card/PayPal donations and 5% of any Gift Aid.I

For example.

Donation £10.00
Fee £0.39
Gift Aid £2.50 (25%)
Fee £0.13

Charity receives £11.98
Just Giving received £0.52

Not huge fees, but when you're talking about the millions Tom's raising, it's a pretty penny.
Stay home. Protect the NHS. Save lives.

That is what Captain Tom is all about. Does he really want more demands to be placed on the NHS as a result of people going out, buying and sending cards that he will never read? I wouldn't.

Of course, I recognise that posting this will make absolutely no difference to the fact that he will get a lot of cards!

That's great, thank you theshedman.

Dammit Shedman, I wish I'd known that before writing all that lot out :-(
I repeat, what a gift left for his daughter a Hannah !
Just knowing the impact her old Dad left on this world
Well thanks anyway, Mozz. Useful to know generally. I think JustGiving is one of the more expensive donation sites. This link is a couple of years old, but gives an idea:

So it's not his home address, Bobbi? I'm confused.
no, It's a post office address Barry
Hi, I was about to post it. What a brilliant thing to do.
The address is here, if anyone might like to send him a birthday card, it's public and care of a post office, not his private address, so I think it's ok.

'no, It's a post office address Barry'

There's an address doing the rounds all over FB at the moment, that's a post office address. So I'd imagine it should be public.

Talk of Tom getting a Knighthood is gaining speed. A petition has just been created, which if you want to sign, not to mention retweet/post it on your social media, is here...

Thanks, Pixie
that's the one Pixie, on here though you never know if you're doing right or wrong , lol
Nobody needs to go out to send a birthday card, there are plenty of sites that do everything online.
