Some are denouncing the closure of parks:

Some say that it's okay to sunbathe when you're ten feet away from the next group:

If you go out with people from your own household and do not interact with anyone else, how will this lead to the spread of Covid-19?

I think a part of the no barbecuing/sunbathing and so on rules is that it takes space away from others. If people are keeping moving they are actually out for less time andf aren't "stealing" time outside from others. If you stop in one place, assuming you have taken your legitimate exercise to get there and will do so to get home, then your sitting/lying around...

We are (at present at least) able to go out and exercise for an hour. Most probably do more than an hour but who has the stop watch?

You aren’t supposed to get in your car and travel so every and any open space within a reasonable distance is fare game. Especially if you have no garden of your own.

So come on. Where are people supposed to go? When we live so densely packed where do you think all these people on enforced staycations supposed to go?

Thanks...some interesting points there.

We've not used our car in a couple of weeks, and because my gym is (obviously) closed, all I can do is go for an early morning hike (if hiking in London is technically possible).

But even if I couldn't go out for a walk, we've got a garden. I feel sorry for those in social housing without outdoor space.
So have you learnt anything from your post, sp?
talking of exercise, you can't buy gym equipment for love or money at the moment. Even old used weight plates are an arm and a leg. I guess people are setting up home Gyms etc.
Avoid places where there are other people. If encountering them keep a safe distance. It’s not rocket science.
TTT, your link displays how the message wasn't getting across when that was first shown 2 weeks ago - hopefully there has been an improvement in most people's thinking.

But there will always be a few who don't heed advice.
Really unpopular and sure to be denounced (and called an idiot) alert post...

Give it another couple of weeks and then end the lockdown. Personally I’d end it now, but I know that will send people apoplectic.

We must focus on the economy, and as harsh as it sounds, accept that some people will succumb. BUT, the vast vast majority will not. The worldwide mortality rates support the fact the vast majority will not die.

Indeed I have!

;-)
Thank gawd for that. (Assuming that it is that your assertions are dangerous).

Looking at what's being said by politicians in the U.S., I could imagine it happening over there, but isn't that 'herd immunity'? A solution that's already been discounted?
Jesus, even Deskdiary has a half arsed opinion.
Herd immunity is on going in Sweden.
DD: "Really unpopular and sure to be denounced (and called an idiot) alert post... " - you called it!
A half-arsed opinion is exactly half better than that coming from Zacs-master.

If you stop in one place, assuming you have taken your legitimate exercise to get there and will do so to get home, then your sitting/lying around time makes the space busier than if you have taken your exercise and gone home again.

Now THAT makes sense. It's the fact that people would be static en masse, rather than going out for a walk and going back home.

Time and movement.

Someone's brought their brain to school.

BA!
I think the idea of stopping people travelling any distance in cars is to prevent them taking the virus from one area to another.

That actually makes sense too. Especially people driving to second homes and delivering the virus to areas of the country that didn't have it (or had it at a lower transmission rate).
thank you Sp. Given that I am zonked on hayfever meds that is quite an accolade
