I’ve voted Tory all my life. I’ve done so not because I particularly like everything they do. Some things I agree with others I don’t. I’ve done so because there has never been a suitable alternative that comes close to my requirements of a government. The latest incarnation of the Labour Party is without doubt far and away the worst I have ever seen. What puzzles me is that some 10m people voted for a Labour candidate earlier this month. Many of them – particularly the Islington set and those of similar ilk – say they did so because they feared for the future of the country if we left the EU. But they were prepared to elect a bunch of dangerous, idealistic lunatics who, as even on the most cursory glances at their manifesto would have demonstrated, would have run this country into the ground. With such economic lunacy it is likely we would have been thrown out of the EU anyway. Brexit would have been a walk compared to what would have happened had Messrs McDonnel and Corbyn and their band of assorted Marxists, Trotskyists and Stalinists had been allowed anywhere near power.
