I apologise for there not being a link, but it seems that I can no longer copy and paste links on my phone.

The question I wish to ask is why did Kate choose to wear typical Pakistan dress, when their dignities don't return the same respect by dressing in western clothes when visiting our shores?

AOG, I have no idea why he and/or his staff decided to display him and his family in such a gaudy peacocky manner. After this trip, he garnered the sobriquet "Mr Dress-Up" in Canada.
It is considered polite for a woman in front of Muslim men, to dress with her arms and legs covered, that is simply courtesy which most Western women observe because they would not wish to give offence.

There is obviously no parallel in Western culture, so it would be unnecessary for anyone to dress a certain way in front of someone of the opposite sex, it simply doesn't come up.

Therefore there is no question of "We do it for them, why can't they do it for us?" - if there was, you would have an argument to back up your question - but there isn't, so you don't, in my view.
If Pakistanis wear certain clothes for sincerely held religious beliefs, why would they suddenly ignore those beliefs when visiting Britain?
I am no great fan of Kate personally, but I have to say she looks simply stunning in both of those numbers in the link.
Why Kate? Has no one noticed William's outfit?
I was just going to mention that Naomi. On today's news, it seems that it's William who's gone traditional, and the guy can pull it off big time.
"For whatever occasion"? Can you really envisage Prince Harry presenting himself at Buckingham Palace dressed like that?
Every photo I have seen they both look immaculately dressed for whatever occasion they were attending.

Sorry, is that clearer - I must remember to spell out what I mean.
In my link from 'Hello' I think this is the only one he'd be unlikely to wear at Buckingham Palace.

Though it is a very fashionable look.

Perhaps she should have gone the whole way and dressed in a full burka?
There's respect for you.

There's respect for you. //

Actually, it's not.

Non-Muslim women are not expected to wear burkas, so if the Duchess wore one, it would be seen as rather odd behaviour by her hosts.
On holiday I always have a cardigan in my bag. If I want to visit a church I know I have to cover up and that's not just in Muslim countries.

Absolutely - a lot of Catholic churches in mainland Europe request that ladies enter with their shoulders covered, some like heads covered as well, and I have seen men in shorts refused entry for the same reason.

It's about respect, and there is nothing wrong with that.

No one has yet answered the question why????

Would the Queen and the Duke Dress in such a manner if they had paid a visit to Pakistan?

Why can't our modern Royals behave like British Royals?

How far is this respective behavior by them to go, dressing up in the traditional dress of every foreign country they visit?
Many people would look daft in a beefeater outfit
// No one has yet answered the question why???? //

Actually, a few people have.
Yes, Andy, I was thinking Malta. It was my shoulders that needed to be covered. It was the same visiting temples in Thailand. They do make allowances for the tourists' attire but the shoulders have to be covered.

AOG - we don't have rules for how we dress so how can visitors dress in a western way?
AOG - // No one has yet answered the question why???? //

I have - at 18:15 yesterday - it is courtesy to observe a dress code when to fail to do so would be impolite to the host.

// Would the Queen and the Duke Dress in such a manner if they had paid a visit to Pakistan? //

Unlikely, they are a different generation, and the last time the Queen and Duke visited, there was less emphasis on cultural interaction than there is now.

// Why can't our modern Royals behave like British Royals? //

I think they are - they are the next generation of the Royal Family, and they are adapting to changes in the world in which they live, which is appropriate in my view.

//How far is this respective behavior by them to go, dressing up in the traditional dress of every foreign country they visit? //

Probably not - as I have already pointed out, the Duchess chose to respect the cultural requests of her hosts in terms of appropriate attire, and Prince William decided to dress traditionally, probably as a compliment to his hosts as well.
//dress in a western way//
Skirts up their *** or ripped jeans?
