What's disappointing though is that people still seem to lap it up, and take this kind of sheeeite at face value.

...and perhaps she doesn't want to 'learn from Kate'. The world is evolving and that includes the role of the Royal family within it, this generation is different to the last as the next will be from this one, it's just the way of things. she doesn't have to separate celebrity from royalty if she does not wish to, and some people are finding that she cannot be compelled to, and rightly so. At this rate I can see them just clearing off to live in the US,neither are poor in their own right, and they certainly don't need to be tolerating the gutter press's circus, especially bearing in mind what happened to Harry's mother.
Calicogirl, she doesn’t ‘have’ to do anything but bearing in mind that the taxpayer has just forkwd out £3m on her house renovations, not to mention the ongoing cost of security for her, I think she has to decide whether she wants to be ‘royal’ or celebrity. If she doesn’t play by ‘the rules’ she can hardly expect to avoid criticism.
Personally I don't think she could care less about the criticism, I think she's tough, hardy, has dealt with far nastier events than this and is more than capable of looking after herself, and I think she will exactly please herself. Now you can moan ( quite rightly in my opinion ) about the Royals costing money but she can still do whatever she likes because she is a free human being. And she is.
Danny, I haven’t mentioned her editing Vogue.
Calicogirl, she is indeed a free human being but one who has elected to become part of a British institution, and that brings with it responsibilities. If she wants to remain part of that she is not free to do as she wishes - well
at least without encountering criticism.

Your observation underlines what I believe to be an utterly false supposition on the part of the media, which in turn is endorsed by the public - the notion that the Duchess is entirely free to do and say as she pleases, and not only ignores royal protocol, but actively and willfully goes against it, pursuing her own particular brand of Kardashian-esque media celebrity.
I simply don't believe that this perception holds water.
As a member of the Royal Family, every single thing the Duchess does and says in public is planned and organised for her by others, and she goes along - because if she did act as the media likes to portray her, we would have heard a sight more about disapproval from the Queen.
It is clear from the deafening silence from the palace in the light of this media garbage, that the Duchess is not acting independently and with the arrogance and disregard that the press show her as possessing.
The Queen is not in the business of adoring anyone who brings her Family into disrepute, and history shows that she is not slow or shy to say so - and clearly she does adore the Duchess, so ask yourself, is this just a media hype campaign?
The evidence clearly stacks up to show that it is - and it should be ignored for the circulation-boosting piffle that it is.

Naomi - // I know Danny, but it’s not the first time he’s criticised her. He doesn’t seem to like her much. //
I'm sure the feeling is mutual, but sadly, only one side has access to media attention to make their dislike known to the world, who, for reasons I find baffling, seem to care what he thinks about anything at all.
